Four Seater Convertible

If I wasn't set on a convertible (yes, I want one damn it!) - it would be the Cayman GTS all day long. The Boxster is a possibility, especially the Spyder.

The Spyder is GORGEOUS! My neighbor has a black one, just beautiful! But the convertible top is kind of a pain.

Darrin - I can only imagine. The Turbo S would be my choice, but its a little beyond my budget. C4S seems like the best bet for now. C2S is nice, but the C4S is a better bet with wet roads on hot pavement.

4 sure get the AWD. But having driven the turbo and and the GTS 4S I would opt for targa 4s all day long before any of those.

Targa top betters my sl600 in speed and elegance and perfection.

I think it is the best looking 911 out right now. Shape of back with curved glass is vintage Porsche. Silver roll bar with targa cursive is awesome. And top is hard so no soft top looks (wrinkles and seams).

Got to drive the M4 today. This is the coupe, but I drove the cabriolet. I was pleasantly surprised. Handled great. Great power. Big heavy car that didn't feel big and heavy. With the sport exhaust, it sounded awesome too!

Downsides? F1 tranny was rough. Jerky. Trunk space on the Cab is non-existent when the top is down. It's very small with the roof up. See in the pics above. I wonder how the hell I could fit golf clubs in there. They have all these boxes and metal connectors sticking out.

Mike, I think the Audi has more space in the trunk, top up or down.

But if you think the bimmer is heavy, you will be sorely disappointed with the Audi's. They are heavier than the BMWs and drive like it.

I think the Jag or Porsches are the ones to beat. You know you get two trunks with the Cayman or Boxster.

I will drive a C4S and a Boxster S as well.

My friend wants me to drive a California too.

Mike -

You are certainly doing your homework.

Looking forward to your impressions on the Boxster S and 991. The balance on the Boxster is fantastic albeit a bit underpowered.

Since you're getting into R8 territory, you should drive one of those as well. And instead of a California, consider a couple year old 458. IMO the California has just had all the edges softened too much.

911's are pretty hard to argue with however ;)

I test drove the California. Beautiful car but not a great drivers car.

Thanks Darrin. I will probably test drive a F430, but I've done some homework on a few preowned ones by asking for the maintenance records. I did more than a few double takes at the numbers.

I'm not sure I like the looks of the R8 or not. Can't decide. At first glance, yes, then a longer look and hmmm....not sure.

Thanks Mike. I drove an Boxster S before and felt the exact same thing, but that was quite a few years ago. They have a little more power now.
