Any other fellow Audio Research (ARC) Owners here?

Love my ARC REF 40 and REF2SE.

Gonna post my first one here, love my ref5se that I just bought during X'mas

I'm currently using an ARC LS09 solid-state preamp. Anyone else I wonder?

As for the LS09, any thoughts as to whether this is a "real" ARC, or is that distinction reserved for only tube components?

My impression of the LS09, FWIW, is that it's very clean, uncolored, and dynamic with my Pass X150.5 amp. If you want added warmth & body you should probably look elsewhere.

Hi Feanor,

I use an LS9 in my upstairs setup. It's paired with an ARC D130 power amp. Both are solid state and to my ears are every bit "real" ARC.

Both are exceptionally quiet yet incredibly dynamic and clean at all volumes. I wouldn't call this vintage of ARC models dry by any means but I agree they aren't extra warm like some tube gear (older CJ comes to mind) of the same era. The LS9 is a great neutral preamp.

Love the LS9 for it's simplicity, format and reliability as well.

What I like of the LS9 is that you can leave it always on.
Real ARC sound , enjoy

Yes, and this is what ARC recommends. Of course I shut it down alone with my Pass Amp when we were recently away for three weeks.

I'll admit I'd like to try a good, relatively neutral tube amp. A couple of years ago I had a Sonic Frontiers Line 1 preamp; perhaps I ought to have kept it, but the SF has a reputation for sound rather s/s which is true. However it was nice in having balance control and two each of single-ended and balanced outputs.

ARC REF 5SE and ARC REF 150, my little slice of heaven.
