Amps for Raidho D3's

Mike,
So I have joined your forum. Congrats with how you have managed to create such a lively community in such short time!
Anyway I found that I cannot post links or pictures until I have posted 10 dry posts.
Have you seen the youtube video where the Raidhos are driven by the Audionet AMP mono's? Seems to be a good match:eyebrow:
Hans

I LOVE when people go there before they come to see me, I strongly encourage it!:satisfying:

You will see over time that I'm here as an audiophile, not as a dealer. Whatever is good for you guys, works for me, no sacred cows with me....promise....just fun for everyone.....life's way too short for anything else.

I really like you
That is also my philosophy
:)

Its true! He's passionate about audio and music too. A very positive person. Great to be around.

Mike, I know you're waiting to audition some more amps but those Classe's must be pretty darn good to keep you from buying something now. Which begs the question, what don't they do that you're looking for?

Where's Mark! :D

Haha! So true! They are good - but even Mark would admit, on the D3's, its a no contest vs the D'Agostino.

What are they doing wrong? Clipping. They aren't controlling the woofers. According to Lars, he said, "The woofers are so fast, so when the amps starting to clip the signal, the amps are loosing the control of the drivers.. And by the way they try to play 60 Hz squarwaves,...

Nothing happens except you have to turn the volume down..

Most speakers will sound really bad before this happens, but cause of the clean sound, there is no warning when the amps are starting clipping."

High current (Class A amps) and tube amps and amps with high damping factors apparently eliminate (or significantly reduce) this according to the intel I'm gathering.

I spoke to Andy Singer today and he said Soulution, Chord or Vitus (class A) can play the Raidho's very loud with no popping.

Jock told me he heard popping when Mark brought his Classe amps over, but not with his D'Ag amps. Hmmm....

Lars was saying a basic Sim integrated can also play cleaner and louder with no popping than some behemoth SS amps. Maybe the fast woofers need current (1) and not to be pushed too hard like big big SS amps can do (plumbing to deeper depths!) (2)

Less is more?

Thank for the explanation Mike. I find this interesting as well. Maybe this is why they say that even tube amps can work with the speakers? (as long as proper volume levels are watched) I agree with your thinking though, if you're going to pony up and buy these speakers you want to be able to get everything out of them that you can. No reason to go in half-assed!
