Where's all the Shindo owners?

C'mon guys. This is the same "taking sides"garbage that ruined the other place. It's like you are trying to catch the Shindo guys engaging in a conspiracy. I think they are trying to give the best Shindo experience possible. Matt sold me GM70 when I had Yorkminsters, so IME there is nothing weird going on there.

Is there an Audio Research forum. I'm going to start a fight there? I bought a Ref 5 preamp and AR dac once here from the AD in Chicago. That dealer didn't do anything but take the order. No small talk. No talk about my system, the use of the gear, component matching. Nothing. He even made me drive out to pick up the gear. I appreciate the efforts of dealers who provide assistance and guidance.

I think the point being made plain and simple is that the dealers will sell the gear to whoever wants to buy it as they have bills to pay and families to take care of. Once the distributor passes it on to them he has his investment back plus and is out of it. The Shindo dealers do seem to be as a group "good guy's." That was never the point of this or the "other" thread. Also you guys need to remember that as the owner of this forum, Mike is pretty much free to make whatever inference he wants.

Chris,

The problem is that John DeVore, as a manufacturer, cannot promote his products if he is not a sponsor. He can answer questions and give informations but not advertising. Dan as a moderator is there to make the rules respected. If you contest him publicly, you are breaking the rule of self moderation. Ivan, the owner of the house banned you. Not Dan.

AA is a private owned company with rules. You ignore the rules, you pay the price. It does not get more complicated than that.
Can you imagine yourself being invited in a private home and ignoring and breaking the rules written everywhere in the house ?
I do not discuss if the rules are fair or not. Private rules are not meant to be discussed. We accept them or we leave.

Jerome -

I was there too.

I saw John Devore's original post. He was asked his design philosophy and answered it. There was zero promotion in it. Dan cut it apart and made John look bad, as out if context.

That site is dishonest. Dan writes a glowing review, Ivan sells the gear. Dan won't answer whether he is paid (I asked, and hot banned for that). The answer is pretty clear in my mind.

Why can't you guys let the "I got banned from AA" thing go and move on. It seems that it has become a "badge of honor." If you know who the owner is and what they do and don't like it then just walk away. Don't stir the pot until they run you off. Getting banned by Ivan and then bragging about it is not a plus in my mind. It means you knew the rules, didn't like them and then decided to stay and challenge them instead of just leaving.

So to get back to the heart of this thread, whatever it was, do the entry level pieces have the same musical beauty as the higher end pieces? Do the more expensive pieces just become more refined, or is it a different sound altogether?

Doug

You might want to e-mail Art Dudley and ask that question as it seems he has been through most of the line. I would suspect that your assumption is correct. Same signature different level of refinement, just like LM, Allnic and others.

>out< No need for me to get sucked down this hole again. I'm going to go spin some 78s on my Shindo gear and kev313 rebuilt garrard with my shockingly crappy and way too expensive but at least pretty Harban plinth and my totally non endorsed rack. I'll leave the inference to people who ... Don't have enough facts and have to draw inferences.

Thanks Jack. If I was to begin with any Shindo it would be the entry level pieces and as funds permitted, move up the line a little bit. I can only go so far though so I don't want to miss out on anything. From what I can see so far, the owners here have many different set ups so I'm guessing it's all pretty darn good.

There is a commonality on the amps but the tubes make a difference.

The pre's sound similar just improving as one moves up the line.

Me personally, I don't like any dishonesty. I think disclosure is important in any community.

Thanks. I'm thinking that I would be happy with a Cortese/Monbrison combo as the end pieces. Of course I would need to hear them to make such a claim.

Again after claiming to want to be neutral you are going down the rabbit hole on your own. If you don't want to have a reasonable discussion about the merits of a particular brand of gear you are certainly free to leave, since you just got here.

Rower

Again if you didn't like the forum way the managed then just walk away. Don't get banned and then come somewhere else and "brag" about it.

As to the Shindo gear, all I would ever consider purchasing would be one of the preamps.
