StillPoint Ultra 5's

From all I've read I would expect the results to not be subtle. I would love to try them but can't afford them just yet so I've been resisting the audition (apparently NOBODY lets them leave their listening room after an audition). I would love to get your thoughts on them, Mike.

+1!

Mike, which cable risers did you get?

Thanks Ian. I plan on ordering them Monday. What I'm wondering now is how to get Stillpoints under my dag amp and preamp since they have specifically designed stands that I use. But I'll start with just the speakers.

Man, I ordered cable risers last week, now Stillpoints. That's just too much hoodoo voodoo for this guy!

Hi Mike,

I would suggest only placing under your speakers and fully get use to the sound difference, you might want to if not already done tape off your current speaker position and then at some point reposition your speakers just to see what this now offers.

When you install the 5's tighten them right up and then back off a complete half turn.

Thanks Dev. Do I need the Stillpoints Base? Does the base attach to the 5's? I must admit, I am a little confused with all this new voodoo! I greatly appreciate your help.

Hi Mike, ha! ha! you aren't alone, I felt the same way prior to ordering and up too installation BUT listening speaks volumes. It's not like you really try hard or have to concentrate, it's obvious!

Looking at my pic showing installed, the 5 already comes put together "all one pce" with only one hole on one side which is threaded - you just install the threaded nipple provided in and then screw into where your spikes would go. It' that simple, don't forget the process I mentioned

Thanks again. Do I need the base? How do the sizes match between the Stillpoint Ultra 5 and the threading on my Alexia's?

#1 Sorry what base?

#2 When you place your order provide your speaker manufacture and model and when you receive your 5's there will be a package included with the correct nipple to attach

I just went onto the site - it's been so long - I noticed there is now a thread chart also and so ironic they have my MBL's right at the top - scrolling down did not specifically see your model so like I recommended just provide upon placing your order.

I also saw a pic showing the 5 placed upon the base pic you referred to so I'm interested in other 5's usage to see if they use - if they use the difference. Anyone I know does not use so let's see what others have to say

Dev,

as requested, the ultra 5 bases are not needed unless you want to raise the component higher. I see no need for them under speakers unless you wanted the extra height. They do not provide any additional isolation benefit, IMO.

Thank you Christian - Mike you now have some clarification about those bases you referred to earlier

Your welcome, please do share your thoughts after you have installed - will be interesting - I would say this leans more to isolation than voodoo :exciting::exciting:

Mike,
I will ask that to Bruce.
Color could be possible in the near future.

I'm pretty sure He will convince me to get the Stillpoints rack

:)

Mike. the only other consideration for ordering the bases is if you have an uneven floor, even pressure is needed when they are placed under the speakers, otherwise not needed.
