My new ARC REF 250's

Those amps really won't take 600 hours to sound good. When I had the pair here for review, much like the REF 5SE and Phono2SE, they sounded pretty darn good right out of the box and by 100 hours really sounding fantastic. That's probably 85% of the sound change you'll hear. If you'd like to break em in a little bit faster, cycle them in 5 hour on 5 hour off increments. Steve Deckert at DECWARE told me about this a couple of years ago and it's worked pretty well at shortening break in time.

Enjoy! They are fantastic amps. And a pretty big jump from the REF 150.

Jeff,

I will use this method on my ref2se and ref5se. Should have them in my possession this weekend!

They need you credit card number to verify she's the one. Dunno :(

Mike, easy with keeping those on for so long I've read they'll blow up...:o

That's funny!

They actually don't run nearly as hot as I thought they would (Jeff was right). The bass improved quite a bit today too. I'm sure some decent PC's will also help in that department.

They arrived a little over 5 hours ago. They are much larger than I had expected and really, quite gorgeous. I put them on and instantly knew these were very special amps. The mid range and highs are incredibly sweet. They are very musical. That's the first thing that came to my mind. How real and musical they sound. The bass is a tad less pronounced than the Classe, but I think that will improve as the remaining 595 hours of break in take hold.

Here's a couple of pics:
