Magico S3 mk2

Can’t wait to listen to it but I am struggling to ‘love’ the look of it like I do my speakers. Aesthetic is bottom of list but it is still on the list.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated: Gryphon Diablo 300 or Pass Int-250 will get you.

Funny the choices we agonise over. Excluding perhaps studying (a loooong time ago) and my day to day job, I have spent more time thinking about my sound system than I have about ANYTHING else! As my daughter would say: tragic. :D

Yeah, that’s what we call passion.

one of my monitors at work almost constantly has some form of hifi related reading. my boss sometimes asks if i got any new gear recently lol

Mike came over and helped me locate the best listening spot in my room then we set up the speakers and carefully aligned everything. So much more accurate SQ now!
Of course he brought over some toys to try.....AR LS28 and VT80SE since I have not heard tubes with my system. Wow what a nice presentation, now I can see why the tube camp guys are such zealots about their gear! I am not sure at this point in which camp I may migrate to, but living in Florida and with a small room with huge sliding glass door facing east just might be the deciding fact.
Forgive my high end equipment stand........Costco $99.00. I do have some proper stands from Timbernation on order with December delivery.

How far apart are your speakers?

73 inches tweeter to tweeter.

It's a small room, I would guess 10 x 11 (??), but boy, does his system sound terrific. I just love how the S3 mk2's work so well in small, medium and fairly large rooms. There is just simply no bass issues at all.

That is my HT size (11x12), and it works great sound wise, even if the speakers aren’t Magico. :)

Larry, finally - congrats! I guess there was no anticipation involved here, no?

I guess in your room the INT-60 should suffice. But tubes might not be a bad idea either, as you have almost a near-field listening situation and could get to appreciate the tube delicacy quite nicely. As a guitar player you should also be familiar with their influence on sound.

I just love the view you have listening to the music [emoji550].

That actually makes it so handy when trying equipment! [emoji57]
And with Mike so close it it’s almost a necessity!

To be honest, if I may suggest, why don’t you get a shopping cart to put you components in, as you are living so close to the candy shop?

That would make shipping gear in from Mike’s and back much quicker... [emoji15]

My room is like 10 x 14ft.......probably the size of some of your wives shoe closet
but the morning view from the 7th floor of the sunrise over Tampa Bay while listening to some soft tunes is priceless. The S3Mk2 fully lived up to my expectations giving me a little more fullness over my previous S1Mk2s.

awesome setup larry!

have you been doing most of your recent listening with the arc gear?

Probably half and half in the last week. The bass grip the Ar tubes have is delicious. The Pass has a little better midrange to my ears. They both sound awesome though and very hard to choose between them. The AR combo is around 3.5k more expensive.

even though this is a magico thread, i have to say the new gear arc is putting out is visually stunning. i've always liked their old stuff, but their new units are really resonating with me aesthetically.

Totally agree!

By the way Mike, I saw the video you recently posted of the magico M3 with arc ref 10 and gs150 - simply stunning. If the s3mk2 with the ls28 and vt80(?) plays close to that, i bet larry is in audio heaven!
