Are the MPODS recommended for certain floor structures? For example, my floor is suspended and no matter what I've tried in the past , spikes on support discs sound best. Stillpoints, Nordost Sort Cones, etc, make everything slow and disjointed. The MPODS appear to be similar to these devices....

The MPODS are designed to work on either carpet or hardwood. The MPODS are not like Stillpoints or Nordost Sort Fut Cones. The MPODS do not decouple the speaker from the floor. Magico does not believe in decoupling the speaker from the floor and hence does not recommend using Stillpoints, Nordost Sort Cones, etc.
I am so glad to see the MPODS from Magico. I was speaking with my Magico rep months ago saying "we need something for all floors!" He kept saying "be patient, it's coming".

Good question - suspended floors are way different from concrete slabs.

91dbs into 4 ohms is more like 88dbs as typically measured. sounds like the amp finally has a perfect speaker match 
It's interesting to see that the M3 has gained quite a bit in size compared to the Q3. The former is 1" taller, 2.5" wider and 3" deeper.
Rob's observation that the M3 is fuller sounding than various S models is quite interesting as well. S series used to be the fuller / warmer sounding line of Magicos while the Q were more neutral.

The supplied torque wrench that you can see in the first set of pics in this thread is to "tighten the tensioners" in each speaker.
There are 8 holes on the back of the speaker where you use the torque wrench to "tune the cabinet". There is a specific torque value that you use to precisely align the internal structure of the M3. You do this "adjustment" about once every 10 days or so to keep the internal tensioners at an exact setting. Do this for the first few hundred hours while the speakers are breaking in, then maybe once every six months.

Very interesting. I see the torque wrench in your pictures. Question: Why six MPOD's? The M3 sits on a triangular base right? Looks like two sizes also - four larger and two smaller.

Nice. I have MPros, no torque wrench came with them, no instructions, no nothing about the tensioning of the cabinet. Maybe MPros don't need adjustment but I doubt that.....
Being a major R&D company, Magico is always coming out with new ideas. It wouldn't surprise me if the cabinet tuning is a brand new feature to go with the latest tweeter advancements of the M3. The M3 is already breaking new ground not covered by the M-Project.

Improved tweeter, improved cabinet design and M-Pods. The M3 is not just a trickle down speaker from the M-Project. I'm sure Mike and Bob will corroborate this. This is the nature of a company on the cutting edge of technology, continual advancements.

Well.....Same tweeter, smaller cabinet, lower power handling, less bass response, MPODS an option across the range........

Nothing new about it. You can see the tensioners on the back of the old M5.
