Lampizator Golden Gate

Hi All,

i just ordered a set of EML Mesh 300b's for my SE GG. I noticed on the back of the unit that 300b is crossed out. Anyone else have the same label that can tell me why it is x'd out?
Must be in error:

300B is always good for SE and Balanced. Its the 45 and 2a3 that are not allowed for Balanced due to excessive heat buildup.

Hi All,

I am currently running a Soulution 520 preamp and 501 mono amps. The system is somewhat of a hybrid as it is unbalanced from the source to the 520 preamp (regardless of whether you use the 520 preamp's RCA or XLR inputs) and balanced from the 520 preamp to the 501 mono amps.

My question is, if I connect a balanced Lampi Golden Gate to the 520 preamp, will the balanced Lampi GG utilize all four of its output tubes or only two of them? If the answer is only two output tubes, then it seems like a waste of money to go for the balanced GG over the SE GG as long as the 520 preamp is in the signal chain.

Thanks,
Ken
Since you have a full Solution set-up, have you not tried the Solution DAC?

Jim,

You mean the one for $50K retail? If so, that is not chump change...

Hi Jim,

I never had the inclination. My source is an Esoteric K-01 Digital Player. It has wonderful linearity, ease and musical density in the midrange. The preamp is a Soulution 520 and the amps are Soulution 501 monos.

As I already run an true balanced ARC REF Pre, that was pretty much the the specification I was aiming for, whilst playing around with the config menu on the Lampiztor.eu site, however It didn't seem clear to me whether this option was available without Vol/pre control, and I would be grateful if anyone could advise me accordingly.
Here is a picture with a Bal GG with no VC...

Is there a PCM upgrade in the pipeline for the Lampi GG? Lukasz had indicated in an interview that he was looking to make further improvements to his DACs' PCM performance.

Thanks,
Ken

I think so, but have no details.

I think that no solution will please 100% of 'philes.

i know of one person with 2 B7 Dacs who will upgrade one and keep the other PCM (which he loves).

Hi Norman,

The Lampi GG's PCM is no doubt already great but Lukasz is never one to rest on his laurels. He probably won't be happy until he gets the GG's PCM to sound as wonderful as DSD. I'll be interested to see what happens. My K-01X should arrive in a few weeks. The upgrade from the K-01 was a no brainer. The hard decision will be next year on whether to purchase a G-01 master clock or a Lampi GG. Logic vs. lust.....hmmmm.

Ken - the key is to demo a Lampi in your system. I'm certain Fred & Co. can make that happen.

Did you ever look at that other clock for the Esoteric?

LoL

Too funny.

I agree Mike. That's the best way to know for sure.

The SRS Perf 10? No, I never checked it out. I'd rather get the G-01 which has a better power supply and 22 MHz output option that sounds superior to 10 MHz.

Best,
Ken

What PCM DAC chip does the Lampizator GG use? Is this a well kept secret? Somebody must know.

Has Lukazs ever considered or explored the feasibility of Ethernet connection? as an customer option to USB.

Hi Audiosharks,

I have my golden gate coming tomorrow having been fitted with the new discrete r2r PCM engine - can't wait. This is going to be fun. Anyone else had this done or planning to?

Hi Bill,

Congrats! You may be the first around here. It will be interesting to hear how close the upgraded PCM engine gets to the DSD performance. Please keep us posted.

Best,
Ken

Congrats Bill! I've heard it makes the PCM sound as good as the DSD. We shall see. I'm considering a Big 7, Single Ended, Quad DSD, new case, new PCM engine.
