Lampizator Big 7 Review

All repairs would go through Fred, and then back to the factory. Shipping is fast through DHL. It takes two days !! Purchases can be made through Fred or myself, as I am now set up as a dealer. I am just finishing up my salon as we speak, and will be demo'ing the Big 7 in all its glory. For those in the central Florida area, I can arrange an in-home demo in your system !!

Thx for the added info

Jdl do you plan on any headphones in your salon ?

No headphones at this time. I will only be representing a few companies. Currently, Lampizator and Polymer Audio Research speakers are on board. I will only carry one brand in each gear category, and attempt to create a unique synergy amongst these products. I need to update my profile to disclose these relationships, as they are now being formed. I will also help Mike demo some of his fine brands as well, as I too own some of that gear. I have been doing a lot of research into DSP, in combination with music servers. I plan on providing system tuning, via the awesome software now available. Family health issues have kept my progress quite slow......but that comes first.

Thanks Paul for the good wishes. If I were smart, I would stay semi-retired and just enjoy music everyday. But I've always had a burning desire to bring more realism to my music at home. It's definitely not a business to get rich off of.......lol.

Thanks guys.

Quick question.

1. I'm new to this world. Currently im using the cheap USB cable that I was using for my printer does USB cable makes big different on sq ?

2. Using an old laptop with window Vista LOL. If I getting a bdp or aurender etc.. will sound improve as well ?

Thanks in advance

Yes and yes.

Grab a Wireworld Platinum 7 USB cable, an Aurender from your local dealer, Mark and you're off and running.

Short answer: yes.

I have had the MSB Diamond DAC IV Plus with Galaxy Femto Clock upgrade ($44k in retail) and Lampi Big 7 is much more real sounding.

Hello the answer you seek is yes but of course there is also ones likes. For me the msb I have has some advantages over the B7 I have . But for musicality there is something about the lampi that's just better. Some say it's about a better reality of music and how it should sound.
Owning a couple of pairs of infinity speakers . Anrnie nudel coined a phrase that fits this thread. He feels that most sound from most speakers and Amps is not music but sound. When it's right it's music . Using this stament as a guide the lampi is just that it produces magic that is magic. Where the msb plays very well but it's not music it's almost mechanical in it's presintation. Beyond this the ability to roll tubes gives it synergy with many more systems. Allowing it to be tuned for the desired system.
Dont look back look ahead to a better sound that is music

Your answer is very helpful and objective. Thanks all you .

Wonderful Jerry,

That sounds like an awesome setup you are building...I wish I was in the neighbourhood to just pop over and soak it up.

As an alternative to the other good suggestions given so far:

Try the €350 Total Dac USB cable, as many people seem to like it. I would also recommend the Uptone Audio Regen USb device to left things up a notch as well ($175). DONT use any cheap USB cable with a Ferrite ring on it! Choose a temporary printer cable free of ferrits.

Make sure to get a better PC running Windows 8.1 and upgrade to the free Win 10 beta.

You may want to consider stand footers for the Big7. Popularly acclaimes ones are : Black ravioli bigfeet, (used) Shun Mook diamond resonators, Starsound Sistrum Aprrentice stands, and Ceramic ball bearings (wobblies).

As a Transport start, I would recommend the Auralic Aries deluxe ($1600). That can be tweaked later, and gives great bang for the buck right now after latest firmware upgrade. My 2 cents.

Jerry and Fred may be able to clarify this but at Axpona Lucasz explained the bureaucratic headaches involved in getting product back to poland for repair as they tax everything heavily and then need to jump through hoops to get it back. He seemed to be suggesting that the goal will be to be able to provide service within NA so as to avoid the cross atlantic shipment.

I sat in the nordost room during a USB cable demo. There was a guy who's wife doubted cables making a difference when she sat down and wanted to leave before it even started. The demo was quite convincing and she left a believer. The difference between a Staples usb cable and the entry level nordost was substantial. The heimdall cable difference was subtle but noticeable. I've never heard an a/b demo of USB cables and it was proof enough to me. The regular cable was muddy and lacking air compared to the nordost cables.

My understanding is that Lampizator has a tech on the East Coast in the U.S. So that may be one way to get the DSD 256/new digital board upgrade installed without shipping a Lampizator DAC all the way to Poland.

Yes Totaldac USB cable is very good on the Lampi. I found power cables make a big difference, not only in making it better, but also in changing the texture. Tara Labs Cobalt is so far my running favorite. Also Shun Mook diamond resonators, buy the ultra or the Giants when you see them used, much better than Stillpoints IMO.

Hi Guys,

We have been working hard to make North America its own free standing unit so to speak and are equipped to deal with most issues here. We have two *very* competent technicians for the East and West Coast who are capable of handling most upgrades, repairs and modifications. In addition to this, Lukasz generally visits the states 3-4 times a year and tackles jobs while he is here.

Here is a fun picture taken just this morning of Lukasz updating a Generation 2.5 DAC from 2010 to current specification at my home (please excuse clutter, I was trying to get the kids ready for school, lol!):

In addition to the above options, a trip to Poland is always an option for trickier jobs which are time sensitive involve re-voicing.

That picture shows a person who likes and is dedicated to his purpose.
And this is why lampi lovers are growing so fast.

It's been a week I have my BIG7 in my rig and I can happy to report back I am extremely satisfied with product in-terms of sound quality and appearance as well. Mike's review helped me a lot to purchase the unit without hearing it also I like to thanks again to Norman who made me opportunity to purchase this great product and meet Lukasz in person also made me feel special as well.

As Mike mentioned on his review this product sounds like the Shindo/Kondo/Wavac kind of sounds quality. the mid range is liquid with full body and bass is so deep as well. Some might find not liking the size of unit but I found it looks amazing with nice wood side panel with see through top panel with tubes on the top ( getting the 101D next week and can't wait to hear them )

All the inputs make them so flexible as well . Only thing I found down side is I do have to push the button on the front for DSD/PCM .

I was so hesitate to jump in to DAC due to most DAC's I tried sounds too analytical to my ears but this Lampi sounds close to analog and I can listen to all day without fatigue. Way to go LampizatOr and thanks again to Mike , Norman and Lukasz.

Also thanks for email from US distributor as well. Since we don't have distributor or dealer in Canada. I will be happy to demo the unit in my room for any AS Canuck members :)

Thanks Paul, but credit must go to Gopher who reached out to me to contact you, given that you had no local place in Toronto to demo a units. Gopher was busy with Axpona wrap up activities, but recalled that you lamented not being able to hear one and all worked out for the best in a unique and serendipitous circumstance. Very happy for you.
