Funny but true. Are we ever satisfied with where our speakers end up? I'm good for a few months and then have to move them an inch here or an inch there. In another few months they usually end up back where I started. :)

Sent from my mobile.
Doug. Are you talking about the speakers or something else ? ;)

I think the Strad's and the 40.1's will give Joe all he needs. The Hegel with the right tube preamp and the right all tube rig as an alternative should put him over the top for a long time. He is set on the all tube front with the GAT/ART combo. With the GAT in house as a preamp, he may not need anything else to go with either the Hegel or the ART amps. Time to clean out the herd and look for a good mid-powered tube integrated. Line Magnetics or Leben come to mind or at a different price point the Primaluna/Mystere integrated amps. Just my opinion mind, as I have found you don't have to spend a fortune to get great sound if you choose wisely and pay little to no attention to the magazines flavor of the month.

Jack,

I think you will be 100% correct. I can't wait for both speakers to come. I need to rotate through what I have and see what stays.

My guess? I'm done.

well we could keep this thread going by taking bets on when these speakers will actually show up--- ground-hog day ?

I'm pretty sure the Harbeths arrived and somehow ended up behind Joe's turntable. He just doesn't know they are there.

All in good fun. But seriously, if it is December are you going to hang in there that long or switch to the Super HL5 or the 0/96's.

I am seriously considering the Super HL5 Plus for fun, but they could take a while too.
I don't think the 0/96 are for sale anymore. He's too smart to part with them. :)

Hi Jack,

The Offrande Supreme v2? They look great. It's a 3 plus hour drive. I should go.

Joe

I think I am going to stick with my original plan and buy these in a couple of months.

Don't know how far it is from your place to Bob's in Amherst, Ma, but might be worth a road trip as he has Reynaud and Audio Note speakers on display. Both alternatives to Harbeth.

Joe

Bob is a straight shooter and someone as a reviewer whose opinion I always valued when he was at Soundstage and then at PF. If you go back and look at his reviews at both places you will see his journey from Spendor to Harbeth to Reynaud and then to an AN dealer. If you don't want to make the drive it would be worth just calling him and talking. Get a feel for what he hears and likes and see if it agrees with what you like. As to the 0/96, John Devore is someone who Bob likes and respects. He had all intentions of becoming a dealer and had several speakers from the Gibbon line in for a listen. He didn't choose to pick them up. He told me he has not heard the Orangutan line as he doesn't do shows. Talk to him first and then see if the drive is worth it. I have owned them before and if Bob says the newest version is the best one yet, I will trust him. Off all of the speakers he carries he says the Offrande is his favorite.

Thank you Jack. A friend is interested in Audio Note too. He and I will make the trip. Not sure when but I think it will be fun.
