It's about time you got off your arse and ordered the Strads:exciting: But please don't give up on the Harbeth 40.1's.

You can use the Strads with the cj gear and the Harbeth's with the Mac 601's and have the best of both worlds:hey::hey::celebrate008_2:

Thank you Bob. I was not ready to pull the trigger but what the heck. Between the 40.1's and Strads, I'm DONE! Seriously.

Actually, I've wanted the 40.1's for a long time, I'm not giving up. I think they will be fun too.

Hi Joe,
Good to know you are finally wrapping up and getting what your heart desires. Strads would be marvellous in your home setting:celebrate008_2:

Alvin

Thank you Alvin. I've been obsessing about these for probably 4 years and not sure why I never took the plunge. I am very excited and it's kind of a relief to finally get what I want. I should know very soon when I expect to see them.

Ha! Certainly a bonus. These will be keepers for me like the S5's for you Darrin. Thank you for all the advice. I really appreciate your experience.

And when the music is off they are beautiful to look at!

And I bet those strads will sound gorgeous with a nice fast SS amp too!

Hegel is tough to beat unless you jump up to $25-30k amps. I have found the amp-speaker pairing is very much about the amps current and output matching the impedance curve and sensitivity of the speakers. Usually there are 2-3 amps that are golden with any given speaker. I kept hearing about constellation and Magico and sure enough they pair perfectly. Any consistent themes from strad owners?

And I say that having been a VAC die hard. I bought the Statement 450 amp ($40,000) and when I compared it to constellation with Magico I realized the woofers had never really moved with the VAC.

Joe

I know you love power amps, but I guess I am a bit confused about which direction you are headed in. The amps in you signature alone are all over the map and the JOB is now gone. Just me though.

Congrats Joe! The Sonus Faber Stradivari is the finest loudspeaker that I recall hearing. It stood out as the most musical, most dynamic with the best presence that I've ever heard.

Two summers ago my wife and I were in Scottsdale, AZ for a visit and we had a free Sunday. Ended up at LMCHE and spent three hours or so alone with a fine salesman (Mike?) that demo'd at least ten different setups in as many rooms. Those Strad's were setup in a room with Mc amps (most rooms were Mc but I'm not sure what exactly was powering the SF) and were positioned against the longer wall with the seating position in the shorter dimension. I'd guess the speakers were about 10-12' apart and the seating was maybe 8-10' back from their plane.

I don't know if I've ever heard a more realistic representation of what music is supposed to sound like than that experience.

Enjoy them kind sir, they are magical.

I like variety and I am waiting for the Job monos when they come out.

So exciting. Thank you Mike. I sincerely appreciate it very much.
