JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...

-> stereotec - NAD C 275BEE RSP Endverstärker

How does Rowen Swiss Power NAD c375BEE sound compared to The Job 225?

Never compared them directly...I had the Job on loan for a week and had only one listening session. My system has been boxed up for month and will be moth-balled from a few weeks. I like Both amps. The NAD is more powerful of course, but teh Job even cold from the box has a CLEAN sound.

A NAD 375BEE RSP costs about $1K more than the JOB.

What is a "Rowen Swiss Power" Nad. We only have the straight Nad c375BEE here in Australia.
Is this some type of Modded Zuped up Nad?

Yes, only in Switzerland, but the high end Company Rowen. Look them up at the 6Moons site. Their sister company is a hifi distributor of NAD and other brands, so they offer the Rowen developed mods to the NAD customers for a reasonable price. Biggest improvement is the bass, but they alo tune up the preamp section.

Dear Maty,

Shipment will be done from Switzerland where the amp is produced.

The price is as per indicated on the website: 1699 USD all included. You pay through our website and paypal.

Please note that we are running out of stock currently. Next shipment is for 1st or 2nd week of June. I can put you on a pre-order list in case you are interested and warn you the day we are putting the amps back on sales.

I am waiting for someone else to tell me the selling price of another amp that is my first choice: AVA Fet Valve 400R, but it will sound/work first at MOC (Munich audio show).

If the price is excessive or not to sell it (like demo) The Job 225 will be my purchase.

The AVA is $2700 or $3000 depending on color new and factory direct. Is the one you looking at being used by a vendor?

What is the burn-in time for job to reach its full potential guys? Also does anybody consider it vailed?

Cheers

Hi Sebna,

Veiled? No, I don't think so. After 100+ hours I think it's broken in.

I agree with Joe. Certainly not veiled and I have used it with five different sets of speakers and three different preamps. 100 hours seems about right too.

I just hooked up my Itube with an Astron 11A power supply modded for 9v last week and holy smokes. With the Sony Hap-Z1ES going into the Itube, into the Job, and playing the Zellatons, this is the most transparent and musical sound I have had in the last 40 years. Talking about a magical sound! Wow.........

All your comments make me really surprised that nobody have noticed what I have noticed. Job seems to be aiming for tube like sound in a way. It gives nice soft presentation with nice weight and fill to the sources but in this case the price to pay is lowered resolution and softened / rounded sound. I loved the presentation but could not live with lack of resolution and have sold mine after about two months of use and 150h.

Still not sure if I did the right thing but I have figured out that I can achieve similar sound with higher resolution amp by adjusting it with cables while I cannot rise the resolution of job no matter what I do.

Time will tell if I did the right thing.

Anyway I still believe it is a cracker little amp and I would be not surprised If I come back to it one day.

So what else is in your system? The job in my system plays whatever you feed it. Bright dac or speakers, bright sound. Dull dac or speakers, dull sound. My friend Rex is using his with the AMR DP777 and KEF LS 50's, no lack of resolution there or he would have already sold it. Rex and I have owned a ton of tube amps over the years and in no way does the Job sound soft like a tube amp. I hate tube amps, especially with transformers.

Very surprised by the lack of resolution comment. From my limited time with it, I found it very clean with very low noise floor. Everything was coming try even at low volume and a just OK preamp/speakers...

It was compared in two systems with same results. If not loss of resolution it would be my perfect amp as I loved almost everything else about it.
