JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...

Welcome to the forum Genjamon!

Thanks, Joe. I guess I should clarify that I've had a Job since July - the first batch after they made the grounding adjustment to deal with the buzz/noise issue some people were experiencing. I'm just now starting to think about experimenting with power cords and maybe even the fuse upgrade.

I think both are worthwhile upgrades. I have the sweetcord and sometimes use a Shunyata Venom3. Audio Magic or Synergistic Research fuses will add that extra little bit.

What would you say the Sweetcord's strengths are as a power cord? How does it affect the Job's sound?

I started with a Signal Cable power cord and now am using a Triode Wire Labs 12+ cable.

Some claim big differences. I'm not so sure it's night and day. Mainly a more relaxed presentation with smoother detail.

Hmmm, how good is it?
There comes a point in quality amplification where it becomes just a choice of flavors at the top, and I believe this is up there. It is different than my Ref150 and Ayre VX-5. Of the three, the 150 is subjectively the top, BUT, this 225 is so close, and so musical, that I just don't care. I find I just sit and listen to the darn thing... for hours. Great amp. I am not selling the Ref150, but holy cow, this thing only cost $2k with cord.

This comment makes me psych'd!!! I had an ARC REF75 and it was probably my favorite amp ever. I have my Job already but waiting for the speakers today.

Gentleman,
The Job 225 arrived about 2 hours ago, I am home and getting ready for my knee surgery tomorrow morning at 7am. So I took a few minutes to unpack the Job and put it in the system. With 102db eff. Speakers she is dead quite , and very clear , holy cow is this amp clear. It also has a death grip on my bass horn, yeah baby! I will have to report back later in the week but thought you would enjoy the initial impressions. The amp has been running for a while now and I listen when I can......I can't fault it at all, and I am trying :woot:. More later in the week.

Awesome!!!!

The Job is a killer amp. Congratulations! Good luck with the operation. We will be praying for you. Now you have an awesome system to come back home to enjoy!

You cannot mention the ARC REF75 and this jobber in the same post can you :weird:

Damn I don't need another amp but....

And the hell of it, I just sold my Super V's and now have a set of active speakers on loan and for sale. So my BMC sits silent and now I want this jobber275!
Oh, an idea. In the interim, I get those little Pioneer SB 22 BS lr's for $130 and pair them with the Atom subs using the anti-mode which would perform the room correction then order the 275 and compare with the BMC. :einstein:Of course in the end I'm comparing an $8k amp with a $1.7K amp on $.13K speakers. What wrong with that idea?

Nothing wrong there, but be prepared to be blown away by how cheap you got away with killing a more expensive system :)
