Get together at Bob's Rhapsody

There just were two guys outside my door claiming that they were FBI agents - the lead guy said his name was "Friday". Supposedly it's been brought to their attention that obscene gestures were made this past weekend on these premises and have surfaced on a You Tube video. They wanted to search the place, to see if the "culprit" as they referred to him was on the premises. I told them they could not come in without a search warrant. They then said that they have all the facts that they need and told me not to leave the country. :roflmao:

Oops !!!
My fault
Hahaha

Oh and my favorite sound was the S3s paired with the Audio Note Kagura amplifier. Very delicate with gobs of low level resolution.
Myles,
Try to upload again the Sunday pictures
Can't see them

nice photos. I know you are a club not a gang. Sorry I can't get back to my original coast that often anymore. I do miss good pastrami every now and then,
Bob is very lucky indeed to have his passion b his work and his work to be so involved with music listening. I do hope some people were turned on possibly new music and better yet new gear.

What great fun meeting the fellow sharks. Miles, as I said, is indeed the Analog Guru. Those tapes were just great. And while it was true I hogged Miles' premier seat for almost 5 hours... you have to remember I've been without my music system now for going on 7 months. Sitting with a new friend, who tirelessly swapped vinyl and tape, and enjoying his total setup, it was a little too easy to stay glued to the chair. Thanks again Miles, I owe ya one. And while the Magico speakers lack a little bit of overall visceral punch (IMO), I can clearly understand how for some folks they are the real deal. Certainly they provide an amazing level of resolution, and way down into the depths.

And Mr. Bob V, thank you for sharing your shop with us all. As much as Miles swapped out vinyl and tape, you did the same for all of us swapping out speakers, amps, etc. I'm thankful for you being so gracious.

Unlike so many sharks, I'd never heard the Raidho speakers before, and they are closer to my "thing" than the Magicos. The ribbon tweeter's presentation reminded me of the beryllium tweeter used by Usher, overall I felt the presentation was a little crisper and sharper than the Magico, maybe a little overall "brighter" or "exciting". Where the Magicos, at volume, didn't want to get me out of my chair dancing, the Raidhos did. It was great for me to be able to listen to a couple other top shelf speakers that I'd not auditioned before. I will say it makes me feel great about the Alexias, which to me provide all the resolution of the Magico, and even more punch than the Raidho, which at the very lowest frequencies didn't pack the whallop I like. Once the dBs get up around 95-105, I feel a speaker should be able to give you some of the same visceral impact as a kickdrum would in a reasonable sized club. When the volume goes up, I like it when my guests start dancing. It makes for very fun parties.

That said, different strokes...

And I'm glad the WA wines (and the one Oregon Pinot) were enjoyed by all. One bottle was a little "off" but wine is a fickle thing. Not bad for some bottles that suffered in the back of a UPS truck across the country.

And Bob V—greens and fairways my friend, greens and fairways.

How about a list of those wines? ;)

I have to agree with you about the Raidho D3's Bob. More to my liking as well with the Goldman SS amp driving them. I guess that opinion will same me some $$$, because I won't be shopping for Magico's, or Kondo's to drive them :bonkers:

I'm also interested in the wine list, if you get a chance.

Thanks Bob for your generosity. We had such a good time. My favorites of the day were the Raidho D3s with the Goldmund amp.

What a great day!

Jock…So good to meet you. We're sure to have a long lasting friendship.

Nelson…I felt like I was seeing an old friend.

Myles…Thanks for the great music selection.

Bob…Thanks for the great wine from the North West.

Bruce - it was great to see you again! Agreed the Raidho/D3 combo is very nice. The D3's like power, especially in my large room. In a smaller room, it might be a different story and some more moderately powered amps would probably sound great as well with the D3's.

bob im a new fan of the d3's and with the kagura amps as well. if i had all of your amps and all your speakers i would sit everyday and listen to the d3/kagura combo. alone in the dark with moderate volumes , even in your big ,high ceiling room its a magical combo . i just would never push them too hard. of course i didnt think to request the wave40/kagura combo i bet its off the hook good.
btw im putting my Lamborghini up for sale this week to buy the d3/kagura combo off you.:roflmao: see you in september.

2007 Chateau Rollat "Rollat" Cabernet

Dunham Artist Series 2008 Syrah Lewis Vineyard (one of my favorite wines, I think I like it 'cause it has strong hints of chocolate)

2010 Hawks View Cellars Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain (Not as Pinot-y as many Pinots, which I tend not to like. This one a little more full bodied and well balanced)

shopping

Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (a terrific wine, nicely complex and layered, just a bit young. I look forward to drinking this again 5 and ten years from now. And no, not a $500 bottle, but in a NYC restaurant it would be fairly dear.)

Sparkman-Darkness-Syrah-200p.jpg

Sparkman "Darkness" Syrah, 2010 (this one was a little off at opening, but generally a huge wine—also one I'm very fond of, which is why I was disappointed it didn't travel well.)

The above list is what I brought, I didn't make note of the bottles brought by others. The Hawks View was from Oregon, the others all Washington wines.

Steve, I hear ya, but you just can't give up the Lambo....it's so you:)

On another note, I sat down and played the Froggy Bottom and I called the guy and said I wouldn't sell it for $10K. I really like the way it plays and sounds. That whole night I was in awe of it after not playing it for a while. I was sure that it was "life" guitar. Then last night I pulled out the '40 pre war Martin D18....omg.

I do exactly what you talked about with the Kagura/D3's at night....it's pretty mesmerizing at the right volumes and the right music. Although basically you and I like the same music and anything that we would listen to works great with this combo.

See you in Sept!
