Get together at Bob's Rhapsody

Bruce - it was great to see you again! Agreed the Raidho/D3 combo is very nice. The D3's like power, especially in my large room. In a smaller room, it might be a different story and some more moderately powered amps would probably sound great as well with the D3's.
bob im a new fan of the d3's and with the kagura amps as well. if i had all of your amps and all your speakers i would sit everyday and listen to the d3/kagura combo. alone in the dark with moderate volumes , even in your big ,high ceiling room its a magical combo . i just would never push them too hard. of course i didnt think to request the wave40/kagura combo i bet its off the hook good.
btw im putting my Lamborghini up for sale this week to buy the d3/kagura combo off you.:roflmao: see you in september.

2010 Hawks View Cellars Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain (Not as Pinot-y as many Pinots, which I tend not to like. This one a little more full bodied and well balanced)

shopping

Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 (a terrific wine, nicely complex and layered, just a bit young. I look forward to drinking this again 5 and ten years from now. And no, not a $500 bottle, but in a NYC restaurant it would be fairly dear.)

Sparkman-Darkness-Syrah-200p.jpg

Sparkman "Darkness" Syrah, 2010 (this one was a little off at opening, but generally a huge wine—also one I'm very fond of, which is why I was disappointed it didn't travel well.)

The above list is what I brought, I didn't make note of the bottles brought by others. The Hawks View was from Oregon, the others all Washington wines.

Steve, I hear ya, but you just can't give up the Lambo....it's so you:)

On another note, I sat down and played the Froggy Bottom and I called the guy and said I wouldn't sell it for $10K. I really like the way it plays and sounds. That whole night I was in awe of it after not playing it for a while. I was sure that it was "life" guitar. Then last night I pulled out the '40 pre war Martin D18....omg.

I do exactly what you talked about with the Kagura/D3's at night....it's pretty mesmerizing at the right volumes and the right music. Although basically you and I like the same music and anything that we would listen to works great with this combo.

See you in Sept!

I love the Wave 40's. A sweet tube amp and those speakers are a killer combo. :)

Thanks again Bob!

Doug...we did play the Waves with the Kagura....I will let Jock, Bob M or ???? who heard them comment on the sound.

Steve...I can say that you were the only other carbon life form other than this one, this weekend, who heard what the Kagura/D3 combo is all about. You heard it Sat morning for three hours with just you and I in the room and you in the sweet spot. I just sat down and listened to some of those recordings that that DR guy the one that looked like Clooney?:hi: brought with him (love ya brother Nelson). Anyway, sitting and listening to music that you really like in the room by yourself or another person or two, is an emotionally connecting experience with the music through the Kagura/D3 combo. Talk about getting sucked into the soundstage. But this only works if you like listening at moderate levels, say 85ish...I was just listening at 75db and my jaw was dropped. This is what this combination is about so if this resonates with anyone then you should stop by just to experience it for yourself and see if you don't agree.

The Kagura/D3 I believe for certain individuals is a force to be reckoned with but for either a trade show or a gathering such as our soiree I would never even play this combo again. It's forte' is individual listening environments.

Not trying to push anything....REALLy, but Steve did hear what I experienced and Steve you heard it in the morning....at 9 at night it's....well you have to hear it and it has to be your cup of tea, BUT if it is then it's a special experience imho. And it's a totally different experience than with the D3 and either Goldmund or any one of the top SS brands that happens to match well with the D3's and as we all know there are many. I think the Ansuz cables are essential to get the D3's to deliver their full capability.

Sorry for rambling, I feel like I am still with all of you....

oh i heard it bob!!! i could have listened to that nellie mc kay album 10 times in a row sat morn. it sounded better than i ever heard it, so smooth and sensual ,it was amazing. im sold on the combo but i can see where the amps just like the absolares would have trouble in a room full of people with those d3's. now i know why raidho never lists the sensitivity of their speakers, because i bet its down near 85db or so. seems 85db of volume is louder when you are alone than with 5 people over visiting. wish you lived closer, id come up for one of those 9pm listening sessions for sure!!

Which Bob? :)
Too many Bobs here
I think we need to name them with nicknames
:exciting:
