Did you ride today?

When I first started out this season (after a long snow induced hibernation) I went up a relatively short (0.5miles) hill that starts at 3-4% and gradually goes to 7-8% at the peak. My hear rate reached 100% at 192bpm! Never saw that on my Garmin before. Ugh. Need to hit the hills more!

Allen, sounds like a few too many glasses of wine and late night listening sessions and not enough time on the rollers this winter. :D

Just put in some miles and your fitness level will come back pretty quickly. You could always get out your Cycling 101 book and read the chapter entitled "RedSectorA" that talks about interval training and get to it! :)

Awesome! Let me know how you like it. I was looking at that one but thought it's too close to my Zoncolan jacket. I see the Free is half off too so I'll probably get one of those. Just have to decide on the color. Thanks for the heads-up.

Hey Doug,

Just realized my jacket isn't the Free, it's something else (forget the name) and don't see it offered any more. But I believe the Free is made similarly to the one I have. It just may not have the the ogled sides like I have, though. Apologies for the confusion!:bonkers:

Nice going Allen, I just ordered it and another jersey not five minutes ago!

No worries buddy. It'll be fine. :)

Wow 192 BPM, haven't seen that in 20 years. Very good you can reach that high. A measure of fitness is to see how fast it can go back down, the faster the better.

Last time I did a max effort test I got up to 182 bpm (test protocol) and about to pass out, was hoping for mouth to mouth from the young lady. Took me a few hours to get my bearings back.

Just got back from 30 miles. It started out at a mild 46 degrees and cloudy and I ended up doing the last ten miles in 37 degrees and drizzle. I could have used my new jacket today! Feels good to be in a nice warm house.

I never did a max heart rate test so 192 may not be the absolute max. I just saw 192 on my Garmin when going up a hill several years ago and I've never seen it higher since then.

Good ride, Doug! I should be getting out tomorrow. So looking forward to it!

Doesn't the nice warm house feel that much better once you have the endorphins flowing. Nice ride Doug.

Group ride yesterday, 9C as I left the house. Goddam it started to rain as I prepared the bike. Did 60k and rain was our companion through the ride. BTW anybody seen that yellow thing I used to see in the sky, I'm starting to miss it sorely. Legs were doing fine but the lungs are still not up to par, I suspect remnants from my pneumonia from a few months past. Need to ride more.

Good ride, Dan. That's a lot of miles in the rain!

I did 35miles myself yesterday, and added a few extra hills for fun. My knees are protesting today, but in a good way.:D

Thanks Allen! Nice ride you too. Hills, ahhhh I miss those, I was supposed to go do some today but my mind refused to go out again in rain. Tomorrow training with the kids.

No doubt about that Dan. You just get chilled to the bone and it takes a while to thaw out!

Nice riding Dan. No fun at all doing the entire ride in the rain. It's still early, you'll be back in top form in no time!

Nicely done Allen. Easy on those knees though, they can only take a beating for so long.

I did 20 miles today. 10 out into the wind and 10 back into the wind! At least it sure seemed like it. It was the first sunny day in what seems like forever, it's that yellow thing in the in the sky that you remember so fondly Dan, so I had to get out for a few miles. It felt really good to be out again these past few days. I'm hoping to be at it again tomorrow.

I was a pussy this weekend. Weather was all thunder-stormy 'n snotty. Saturday... what the hell did I do Saturday? Oh yeah, went to three wine shops and picked up some bottles that I'd ordered. Today, just a spinning class. Kept my watts at an average 218 for an hour. If you take a couple rests those average watts drop like flys, so you really gotta get on it to keep the avg high. Heart rate monitor wasn't showing consistently so I trained to watts. Felt like I had bonked after, my legs are killing me.

But, would rather have been outdoors logging some miles. Hounds 'n Hares again Tuesday night.

Dan, to you again I bow down. Riding in the rain means you are a BADASS! Nice work.

Did I ride today?

Yes, Finally. the fair-weather boy got out on his bike.

Attaboy Mark!

It was such a beautiful day yesterday that I had to get a ride in before my trip back home. 50º out , sunshine, 17 miles of country and dirt roads. I passed another cyclist who had stopped to talk on his cell phone. He tried to catch me but I was playing keep away. Usually I don't have a problem riding with someone new but I had a 90 minute drive to get back to so I wasn't in any mood to be chatting. :)
