One would hope that landlords, mortgage holders, etc. would realize not only that human decency is better upheld by working with renters and homeowners to find ways for everyone to be happy, but also that there is no long-term benefit to trying to foreclose or evict if there are no new renters or buyers to take the place of those evicted.

As far as politics goes, unfortunately at this time governments' (not only ours) responses to this pandemic and panic are as much a part of the story as the disease itself. It probably didn't need to be this way.

Lives are being lost. Things need to be looked at truthfully. When human lives are on the line, esp. in the range of possibly tens of thousands, everything needs to be questioned - financial, social, political and moral.

There is a reason most audio forums have a strict policy against political threads and discussions. This maybe the time to talk about the coronavirus, but this is not the place for it in my opinion. Politics can ruin relationships which is why audio forums try and stay out of politics.

Besides, if I want to know the latest pandemic news I turn on the TV or read news sites on the web. You can get your daily dose of finger pointing, trashing your favorite villain, and keep up on the conspiracy theories. I don’t go to audio forums to keep informed about the coronavirus virus.

^ I’m fine with this.

Agreed. Idiots spreading fake news.

But don’t say this. I don’t think anyone here spreading the fake news. Apart from the ones who can’t stand the slightest of criticism towards you know who.

You might think there isn’t, but it’s true. That’s why these conversations aren’t appropriate for audio forums.

it's a 'sub - topic' within the forum, no one is forcing you or anyone else to participate

I would like to keep this thread going, but yes, please, let’s not discuss politics or use those political fingers to point blame. This isn’t the place for playing the blame game or conspiracy theories or whatever. That gets political.

Let’s stick to discussing just the virus, medical, science, etc.

We beat this thing by setting aside our political differences and working together - across states, nations and the globe. That way and only that way.

Here are a few helpful links my company just sent out that can be better trusted than the normal Media outlets

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html
This is a live map that shows the total number of confirmed cases in each country. We would suggest not obsessing over this but your focus should be on the number of recovered patients which is much higher than the death total. Also, important to note is that this does not take into account those who have had the virus with mild symptoms and were therefore not tested.

The Lancet is a weekly peer-reviewed general medical journal. It is among the world's oldest, most prestigious, and best known general medical journals. The Lancet provides fully referenced articles on many subjects including COVID19. Many articles are open source so are free to read.

Just checking the latest reports on the spread in Michigan.
It appears that areas with a more global mobile population are the ones that are being hit earlier, while the more rural counties are virtually virus (reported) free.
Is this similar in your state?

social distancing, it obviously works !

jadedavid That appears to be somewhat similar to FL. Some of our counties are "reported" as virus free, but others that have a more dense population have a greater number of cases. But there is more testing in these dense areas. For example, the Miami-Dade and Broward County areas are the worst here and have more testing ...

NOTE: Miami International Airport was one of the 13 airports in the US that were allowed to accept international flights. I wonder if all 13 airport locations have a higher concentration of cases?

So, with only partial information (i.e. little testing in less dense areas) it's difficult to know 100%. See FL MAP

FL is kind of weird though as Spring Break impacted our beach areas. And then these same Spring Breakers went home - wherever that may be ... FL also had the Dem. Primary ...

So, IMO these extra activities have impacted the number of cases here in FL. But FL had cases before all this activity as well.

...if I want to know the latest pandemic news I turn on the TV or read news sites on the web...

Although most of what I have seen and read that way has been as hard to interpret (in terms of personal and real-world applicability) as a lot of what is posted here, and unfortunately there is quite a bit of "fake news" (to be fair, not always intentional, just accidental) even from otherwise respected news outlets. The difficulty for most readers and viewers is having an adequate knowledge and experience base to separate the wheat from the chaff. Even the CDC's credibility is questionable as the website continued to insist (even through 3/16) that transmission from people with minimal or no symptoms was not important.

Unfortunately, the only realistic advice for most people right now is to do what you are told (often in the form of mandatory government commands). The amount of non-critical, "independent thinking" opinions posted on this and other audiophile (and general interest) websites is astonishing and scary. If you don't have the appropriate knowledge base, experience and access to data to broadcast a worthwhile opinion, you should make that clear.

In retrospect (and it shouldn't be surprising) the data coming from China on this virus and the associated outbreak in China was woefully incomplete, leaving the rest of the world uninformed and unprepared. And like it or not, that was deliberate and political.

Rob, I agree with you. Every day is a new day and brings new information about the coronavirus. Sometimes what was thought to be true yesterday turns out to be false.

Obviously this is just a model. It’s meant to urge “you must act now”. No one really knows how to predict the future. According to this, NY hospitals will get overran pretty hard.
