Balanced Lampi Dac - Joe you are famous now

its a shuguang-produced tube, but very good (and inexpensive).

www.thetubestore.com - Preferred Series 274B / 5U4G Rectifier Tubes

Much thanks, this is the Shuaguang 274B. I got it as STOCK with my B7. Its excellent and best value for money new stock recti tube!

"Lampizator Testing five world's best rectifiers: Bendix 5R4WGB, Valvo GZ34, Electron 274B, CCCP 5c3s, Emission Labs Mesh 5U4G. Which one will be the king and go to our future Level7 DAC ?
Fred said the same!"

My Lampizator Big 7 balanced w/ volume control is rock solid and sounds GLORIOUS! Holy cow, I've found the holy grail.

Good news JOE!!!
Lukasz didnt text me, but a perusing of FaceBook found this:

"LampizatOr On a separate note, PX4 and 300B get approved for working in balanced version of our DAC. So far only 101D were allowed. Still neither 45 nor 2A3 is allowed in the balanced DAC."

Mike,

MORE tubes to explore???

Shawn doesnt like KR, but somehow Lukasz loves them:

LampizatOr OK, these tubes are of absolute no compromise best technical quality. The way they are put together is not from this world. Drooling all over. Sonically this bunch - 2A3, PX4 and 300B are similar, if I was hard pressed to name the differences, PX4 is very slightly best in space and aura department. 2A3 is best in bass and foundatiopn, while 300B is an allrounder. These tubes are fresh and not broken in yet, but my 101D-L WE replica still remain my tube of choice.

Mike, I think when Lukasz hears your Elrog 300b, he may do a 360!

Mike,

Lukasz already did just that. He had to, in order to keep up with demand. See table at the bottom of the link: PRODUCTS

I dont work for Lampi (or anything in audio), I just like the products and try to help with the brands I know about like Lampi, iFi, Job, and Uptone REGEN. Thanks for the shoutout though.

Thanks Norman. That's great to see.

Uh oh. :exciting:

That's great. I found it better than the NOS RCAs and Sylvanias I bought- very open and dynamic. My problem was that it gave my Quads fits for some unknown reason (my tube tech said it should work perfectly after putting the amp on a scope) and they blew out fuses over time, so I gave up and returned to 5u4g.

The local Zu guru (213Cobra who Fred knows) uses one in his Melody 2688 preamp as well- his tube stash is pretty sweet after 30 years of collecting.

Norman,

It used to be for the Big 7 that you had the choice for standard caps of Dueland Copper or Jupiter Copper. Is the only standard choice now the Jupiter Copper?

The one thing that rarely gets mentioned is just how EASY the Lampi is on tubes. I would GUESS it extends typical tube life by 3-4 times. That makes buying those Elrog or Takasuki 300b's a little more palatable.

Rumor has it the 300b tube is now approved in the Lampi Balanced DAC.

Anyone know for sure?

Hi Mike,

Have you decided whether you're going to stick with the GG SE or change to the GG Balanced? Seems like a tough choice because your GG SE is working so well right now with the pair of Elrog 300B's. But with the GG Balanced, you could run straight to your Lampi 211 mono amps without any preamp but you would have to find quad matched tubes and we're not sure if the 300B's will work yet.

Best,
Ken

I haven't. Been contemplating it. I would have to hear both I think before deciding. I would love for Joe to take his over to Bruce's and compare balanced vs SE Lampi's.

Thanks Mike. Seems like the crux of the decision might be whether the 300B's will work in the balanced version. Based on the way you described the Elrog's, they would be the first tubes I would want to hear.

MikeCh,

With all due respect I think your post makes things sound a lot more confusing than they are, lol. :D

I can understand how it might appear confusing but its actually quite simple and many of our customers don't roll tubes at all--you decide your own level of involvement.

Tubes:

ALL of our DHT DACs use the same output tubes and there are plenty to chose from. Just line up the pins and flip the switch to the appropriate position and enjoy!

PCM/DSD:

By default you get both. If you decide you don't care about one or the other we will skip the module in your build. Very simple and either can be added at a future date if needs change.

Chassis:

Copper (Gold colored) chassis is for our Golden Gate.
Aluminium will be used on our Lite 7 and Big 7 unless a specific request is made.

Please let me know if I can clarify further.

Fred A.

Thanks for explaining Fred.

Hi Mike,

It's really not that difficult. I'm still using the stock tubes and I can not believe what I am hearing. I do have some upgraded tubes coming but nothing crazy right now. It's so good out of the box, all you need to do is go through a week or two of burn in and it's smooth sailing from there. Seriously, there is nothing better right now.

Joe, I'm kinda like Mike. I need to hear it for myself. The big boss Mike will be bringing his GG to Georgia for me to hear, I can't wait.
I love the simplicity and the great sound of my Lumin A1. But I'm not married to any piece of gear I own. If the Lampi smokes my Lumin, then I might have to make a move.
But the proof is in the pudding.

The turtle waits for the right time!

I'll only bring the Lampi if you agree to listen to hours of jazz, blues and my girly music. We'll have a Diana Krall marathon! LOL.

Just don't forget the tissues and potpourri.

Agreed. You will be out of your comfort zone with regards to the Lumin app and how music gets fed to the Lampi. Me, I'm done.
