About to pull the trigger on Tannoy

Maybe BLACK Limited Edition for Joe ? :) I still think you should try the Canterbury though.

Hi Paul,

I'm not feeling the black speakers but I'll look at the Canterbury. I still don't know the relative sizes and names of the Tannoy speakers. It's all still a little new to me.

Hi Chris. More I think It will be really great combination with your amps.

However why SE ? If you can swing it go with the "Gold Reference" with Alnico magnet driver. :woot:

the GR is nice but maybe a little more than I can swing. Just waiting now on the Tannoy rep to reply so I can find a place in Fla so I can listen.

If its on the west coast - I'll join you. I'm going to Paul's on Sunday to hear his Tannoy's.

In a good way or no? Care to elaborate?

So far I can tell you that my McIntosh pre-amplifier doesn't like the Allnic A5000 or vice versa also I knew my Mc is warm and little dark sound but never really realized this much. Do I like the new sounds ? Can't answer that yet. To me it sounds little bright but Mark said it's neutral but I have to admit that it sounds damn clean and more dynamic vs Mc.

Paul, what a great thread! You should get this thread moved to under Member's Systems. This is a great journey and thanks for taking us along!

So I may have lost track: is the amplification looking like Allnic Pre -> Tenor amp -> Westies?

Sorry I missed your post. Thanks Allen I'm having so much fun and I love to share with my journey :)

I'm lost on track too lmao who knows how I'm gonna finish this journey. :P

Thanks Paul.

I've looked at Tannoy for along time. Thank goodness Mark lives near you and not me :)

Truly lovely speakers Joe. You got a try it in your home. It will blow your mind with your Mc & CJ gears. :D Money back guarantee .

Thanks Paul.

Joe Did you try the C2300 or C2500 ? if so what was the difference with your C500T ? If I like the Mc's warm and dark sounds I should go with their ladder ? Don't I ?

Paul - I'm not a huge fan of Mc Preamps unless you go with the C1000C/T/P. I would suggest an ARC REF 5SE. ARC preamps and Mc amps make magic IMO.

Paul,

With the right tubes the C2300 can come very close to the C500T but do the same on the C500T and it gets even better. I do agree with Mike, a better preamp like ARC or my CJ will make the McIntosh amps sound better.

ARC is more neutral than McIntosh and CJ is slightly warmer.
