Not so good. I really like the horns - AER loaded Oris - but he system had problems. As constituted in this pic, the Sinhonia could drive the JBL to soft, wet fart noises, but not much more. When driven properly the bass was too hard to integrate. Eventually I became fed up with the complexity, dealing with crossovers etc.
I do love me some giant horns though. I'll probably try multi amped multi horn system again at some point in my life.
Edit** I just realized that perhaps some of the Shindo controversy, such as it is, comes from the fact that many Shindo guys come from the world of low watts, horns and drivers, vintage gear, altecs, WE, and this sect of Japanese audio in general. Just my observation - and again putting out the disclaimer that everyone is free to explore whatever corner of this universe they wish - but this is a lot different than the world typically inhabited by the Wilson, Harbeth, SF, ARC etc user. Food for thought.

Putting aside the genesis of this particular forum, I'm happy to have discovered it. I'm about to jump into the Shindo world and planning to build an entire Shindo system. Hoping to visit Pitch Perfect in the next few weeks to sort this out.
One immediate question... what's the typical lead time on higher end Shindo components? From the time an order is placed, are we talking weeks, months... what's that typically like?
Also, anyone ever listen to or own the Latour's with the lower end Shindo stuff? How does it sound?

My experience regarding lead time with Pitch Perfect has been about 4 to 6 weeks with Cortese, VR, and Giscours. My Petite Latour ran about 4 months. The cabinets were the hold up.
Less expensive Shindo gear is incredible and just another flavor. The Latour and the Petite Latour show any Shindo pieces in their best light. If you spring for the Latour, you won't be disappointed with any Shindo gear you drive them with. Or most likely any other valve brand for that matter.
Wow, 4 months. I'm not sure I'd want to shell out all that money and have to wait 4 months for any sonic improvement.
I'm basically considering 2 upgrade paths...
Option 1: Start with DeVore 0/96's and much higher end Shindo components, then upgrade to the Latour's next year.
Option 2: Start with the Latour's and use my PrimaLuna Premium Dialogue for the foreseeable future. Maybe add the lower tier Shindo components about 6 months later and then upgrade the following year.
I'm moving into a new house mid-November and my listening room is a lot bigger. I was kinda itching to have something new shortly after the move. I'll have to talk to Matt to see what the current lead times are like.
I started with your option 1. Devore 0/96's with VR preamp and D'Yquem amp's. I planned on upgrading speakers within a few months but the Devore's are so good it has been nearly a year and I have yet to scratch the upgrade itch.
The Latour's are very room dependent where the Devore's are much more forgiving. I am extremely happy with my choices. 300b Shindo tube bliss. My wait time on components was about 4 weeks.
Either way you can't go wrong. Just follow the advice of your Shindo dealer and enjoy. Good luck.
Can you elaborate on the room requirements for the Latour's?
If I go with the DeVore's, I'll likely start off with a Line Magnetic 219IA. The reasoning is that I'd like to go straight to the Vosne Romanee. My PrimaLuna won't allow me to use the Shindo as the pre-amp. I love the PrimaLuna, so I could absolutely just use it while I save up for the Vosne Romanee and a Shindo amp. But I am intrigued by these Line Magnetic's and could live with the 219IA as the amp for awhile, giving me time to add some other stuff (upgrade my cart, cables, power conditioning, etc). Plus, it might be nice to have two amps in the house.
Talking to Matt tomorrow, so we shall see.
My Line Magnetic LM-219IA is off the hook great. I don't know Shindo but believe it's wonderful as well. I never knew how good SET could sound. I have not rolled the tubes and know I'll get better but I just can not believe what I am hearing. It's a different world, three dimension in spades, tonal density with the right amount of warmth and creaminess. Holy cow!

Talk to Matt on the Latours. Shindo probably has a model to suit any room requirements. As to the wait, four months was a short wait for speakers that I will keep forever.

Very good point. Jonathan happened to have a pair of the auditorium homage 755a's on hand when I was looking. If i had to wait I would have been happy to. Low production speakers like auditorium and shindo are very special and worth the wait.

Hmm - I must be distracted listening to much music lately - it took me 6 months to figure out that all the Shindo owners have moved on from AA to a new forum :hey:.
