What Vinyl Do You Have On The Table?

Rob, how was this? Certain forums are saying this is better than the original.

Like your Rowland gear, btw! Had Synergy I and 8TiHC just until about a year ago.

i don't have the orig 1st press, a friend of mine that does will give me his take. Even on 2-ch, the Q sound effects are superior on this release to the mastersound gold RBCD ive been used to all these years. so much for the inferior specs of phono playback; the separation, width and depth of the vinyl pressing puts the CD to shame. the effects aren't just panned hard left and right outside the speaker positions but well behind the listening position - awesome stuff. just get it.

i'm liking the rowland gear too, as you know you need a synergy to power the cadence phonostage (the lucky ones have the sep. battery PS). On the whole its among the best i've heard.

Good stuff. I preordered it, just can't play it yet. Waiting for some gear to get here before I can start spinning again.

Rowland is great. the least grainy amps I've ever heard. They do respond well with good PCs.

Taylor Swift....1989 Didn't think I would like it but I really do. 2 record set....very short sides. Surprisingly good sound too... Recommended by Michael Fremer

Hans, to clarify, the music is 'just ok'. Sorry for the confusion.

I do like her cover of Gordon Lightfoot's 'If You Could Read My Mind'. But you will enjoy the sonics. I recently purchased and played Anne Bisson's Portraits and Perfumes, an album of all covers, and while sonically good, didn't reach the same level as Holly Cole here. The presentation on Ms. Cole's LP is much more natural, and she will sound like she's singing in the room with you. Spooky good!
The album arrived and I have to agree that the sound quality is really perfect. Full body but open clear and airy. Also that last song is the best although overall this is not the music in my collection.

pallas pressing (going for a song). this one has the same matrix markings as the ORG pressing, i.e. the same stamper. I wonder how the sound compares.

I have this too. It sounds great! Wish I had the original ORG to compare. I'm sure it's very close!

My guess, ORG pressed, say 1000, retired that stamper, then geffen/pallas takes it from there, 1001 - ???. Just a hunch.

Yes, that's what I'm thinking.

Does your copy have ORG but crossed out with X's in the deadwax? Mine does.

Yep. though I'm still hoping my copy will make the coveted 'white hot stamper' list.

Lives up to its hype. I'll compare to the other pressings I have, but pretty sure this will kill them all.

I have the original US pressing of Nevermind as well as the MOFI. The original US pressing captures the grunge and emotional aspect of the music best. The MOFI seems cleaner but less musical.

Anyway, enough old stuff. John Grant - Spooky good voice
