I had preordered on Acoustic Sounds. Was just told it shipped today. Can't wait to hear it!

me three. I put an order together today and added a bunch of sale items and LPs not eligible for further discount along with amused to death. I never have a problem putting an order together for 5, 10 of 15 new records - funny how that is:lol:

I have the original vinyl pressing of Amused to Death. Personally, not sure why all the hype as its hardly a great album

Now this is good and its a new release from the Mod Father Paul Weller

Sonically or musically or both?

Musically its better than its sonics. It has a lot of effects going on and some compression , but sonically and and musically a lot better than his previous Sonic Kicks album.

If you like Paul Weller, well worth getting as the sound is acceptable.

that's a rhetorical question, right? I liked the jam in small doses, the style council not so much. a new paul weller album gets me as excited as a new rod stewart album of torch songs. besides, the weller album is in all likely hood digital (and compressed at that) i'm pretty sure its available free for the taking on any one of a gazillion torrent sites.

Is it?

Did not care for the Jam that much. Style Council was OK.

Paul Weller solo career has been excellent.

If you are comparing a Rod Stewart album of covers with a album of new songs from Paul Weller, its clear you have not listened to it or probably much of Weller's solo stuff. Your opinion is just that but based on ignorance.

BTW, you can get anything on torrent sites if you like stealing - is that your game? Me I am happy to pay for my music.

The only thing I ever play from "Amused To Death" is the song "Three Wishes", so that guests can hear the little old lady talking from the upper left of the seating position and feel the bass when the genie speaks. Musically, the album does very little for me, except for some of the guitar work.

Now on to an ORG 45rpm reissue of Duke Ellington's, "Jazz Party In Stereo". I highly recommend this album for it's music content and for the incredible sonics and expansive soundstage, which extends well beyond the speakers.

I also have the Original Pressing of Amused to Death. agree it's a great and interesting recording....as well as a system tester for soundstage precision.

I like the music better than your take; but it is definitely an acquired taste and I have to be in the absolute right mood for it....have the correct single malt ready.

not for casual listening or multi-tasking. need the lights dim and all my senses tuned in.

Starting the Stan Getz: "The 1953-54 Clef/Norgran Studio Sessions" from Mosaic Records. This 33&1/3 rpm four disk reissue was mastered by Kevin Gray and sourced from the original full track mono masters, except one song, which was transferred from a 78rpm pressing! Even though this music is mono, it is so well recorded that you'd swear sometimes it's a stereo recording. Beautiful sound and music! Since this is four disks at 33&1/3rpm, I won't finish it this listening session, as I will have to go swimming with the missus in a bit. Retirement, it's can be so demanding!
