Man, for a minute there I thought you had searched my reviews and came up with things to crack on me with. I'm pretty sure I have never used any of those words or phrases.:whew:

I am aghast at such an accusation.

Did it originate from an overseas dealer/distributor?

I don't know where my cart originated from but there was a big carfarfull with ClearAudio and that dealer apparently.

I can see thru the bag are those the new Cardas Clears super quiet I would think. You would not even see them on the floor.

Oh no Grath those are the new Fancy Cable 'Ultra Clear Sonic Wonders', from Invisible Cable Works. They provide the user a transparent view of your system like they aren't even there :snicker:

Re: What Ticks You Off The Most About Online Audio Forms

Moderators and punctation spelling police it is a form people often reply off the cuff and not like it is for publication in a high end mag. If you do not know something like how to post pics asking should not be a crime. supporting a idea should not get you Green ink and threats of a time out just IMO. If a form says Whats best thats what it should be about not whats best I can afford. If gear is out of mine or your price range does not make it stupid or bad just high priced . Lets face it 500 dollars is too much for some 500,000 is not for some. I ran a foul got a warning on one site I deleted all my posts over 300 I guess I do not like green ink. I thought that would be whats best IMO

This …………exactly ! Bad grammar is pure laziness, plain and simple !

Re: What Ticks You Off The Most About Online Audio Forms

I've noticed a lot of posters on audio forums using "gears" for equipment. The plural of electronic gear is gear, not gears. This doesn't tick me off, but it is annoying. I also agree that it is a sign of laziness to not use punctuation or at least spellcheck once in a while. It makes it difficult to get the correct meaning across.

It's actually meant as a joke.

Lazy sure I do the best I can funny how some learn to spell and how to write in a elegant manner but never learn manners. Been in a few dust ups on line but I never tried to start one. Grammar is taught like table manners and table manners were invented by people who do not enjoy eating to spoil it for those of us who do. IMO Cheers.

It looks bad when you're a native English speaker, and you can't post ideas online with some semblance of coherence and syntactic correctness. Of course you're free to post slop, just like you're free to go out in public unkempt and smelly -- but some people are going to take offense to that, and you SHOULD know this. It's not adequate to claim that it's others' problem, since YOU'RE attempting to participate in the group.

That said, lots of non-native English speakers participate in English audio boards, and a good deal of them have a very respectable grasp of English. They'll certainly get little details wrong, e.g. "gears", but as a 1-language guy I have a TON of respect for them.

I'm not a Grammar Nazi type but nothing makes me more insane than a 40 line long, run on sentence. Let me introduce you to Mr. Period.

I would like to refute this hypothesis. Is it not within the distribution of out possible comes that we are simply stupid? I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but calling me lazy; them's fighten words bucko.:whoa:

So if you are a lurker on this site and have thought about posting a few people would prefer you only post if your spelling and grammar is up to their level. That about right .

Anyone not a English lit hero do not hit post quick reply.

I will take a good idea misspelled over a poor idea with perfect grammar any day . Just my thoughts to the Grammar Gods. Audio Form not a English lit Form. Got a Audio Question ask some one will give you some good thoughts .

Guys-One thing I have learned over the past 30+ years is that there is no correlation between formal education and writing skills. You would think there would be, but it simply isn't so. I first discovered this when I was an instructor at a shipyard. I remember being appalled when I had to read test answers written by engineers. I kept thinking of my fourth grade nun, Sister Tiger Claire. She would have lined all of them up and given them a beating.

It's no different now where I work either. I'm surrounded by engineers and I'm constantly amazed at their lack of writing skills. I've often wondered how they made it through college, but I have learned not to even contemplate that anymore. One peer I work with who is a EE can't write a complete sentence to save his life. A past division manager wouldn't let him send anything off station unless I proofread it first and corrected all of his mistakes.

I guess my point to all of this is that I'm surprised that someone started the "no tolerance for bad English" in this thread. Very few people can write intelligently now days. Again, it's not even a reflection of how many years of schooling they have and how many degrees they may possess. I can't go online to a single major website like CNN, FOX, Washington Post, or any others without spotting tons of grammar issues, missing words in sentences, and words not spelled correctly. And these stories are written by journalists!

My advice is to take a chill pill and not worry about it because you certainly can't fix it. Trying to shame someone and make them feel bad isn't going to turn them into a writer.
