What speaker have you never heard, but want to?

Fun topic, so I'll go first:

Apogee Scintilla

On huge arc-welder amps that can heat up an entire room. Apogee had gone out of business before I became an audiophile in 2000.

What speaker have you guys always wanted to hear?

(sp) Tolteque AHL cold air plasma speakers - prototype pair demonstrated at January 1992 WCES in Sahara Bi-Level. Couldn't be judged because of system issues, though. Company was gone not long afterward.

Same show, same venue: Avalon Ascents driven by Tube Research Labs GT-800 monsters with Goldmund Reference (didn't observe which cartridge), Vendetta Research phono stage, and First Sound passive. Felt the heat 15 feet away. An epiphany.

My wish list to hear would include John Iverson's one-of-a-kind full range speakers that sound loud even if you covered your ears as tightly as possible. No idea what the technology was, something that would make plasma look amateur :-) And Iverson's glow-in-the-dark amplifiers. I strongly suspect everything was confiscated. Iverson could have been considered the modern day Nicola Tesla of high end audio. Truly a madman, an inspired genius.

nelson pass made a plasma speaker, anyone hear it? i'm a fan of Iverson's work, I owned a 2a and heard the 7s many times. was his disappearance ever solved?

Not to my knowledge. Those who know, aren't telling.

Yes, i meant to mention Pass's speaker. From what I read, he found it to be too dangerous, presumably because of the ozone produced, so he dismantled it.

Not to mention 75 DB efficiency and couldn't play above a whisper. :)

It's a damn shame they never found out what happened to John Iverson. Maybe he is hanging out with Jimmy Hoffa.

Not likely. There was an article in TAS about him and his disappearance, which actually is a pretty good account. A friend worked for Iverson in LA back in the day and told of seeing amps glowing in the dark (I'm not talking about tubes) when he slept in the shop. But he wasn't around in the later days, so he isn't aware of what happened.
