What are you watching?

Everything has changed in the last 50 years.

Our lives have changed. See how technology has invaded our kitchens with microwaves, our cars are computerized with GPS devices, beeps and bells. Even my laundry has automatic sensors. And my glasses are unbreakable.

Our morality has changed. How we fight wars have changed. Even how we work has changed.

So why does the Twilight Zone seasons 1-5 not just hold up but still bring shivers down your spine?

Wow, is this blu ray set terrific. First, you get the first “real” twilight zone episode with William Bendix that was an hour long feature introduced not by Rod Serling but Desi Arnez. And it is complete with a “live” commercial with Lucy. There are two “pilot” episodes of “Where is Everybody” with different announcers. A few Twilight Zones were adapted from other TV shows and those original shows are here too….As well as commentaries from stars including Martin Landau. Of course great stars just starting out, Robert Redford, Billy Mumy and Jack Klugman are here too.

Yet I still identify with Burgess Meredith in an episode that doesn’t really make too much sense, yet it is unforgettable. I see our new “machines” and technology like they see their older technology and feel the same distrust. Dennis Hopper shows us that evil still lurks around the corner in 1950 and still today. And you might see some inspirations form movies including Poltergeist.

But, I must say, if we gave awards for the best TV shows ever this would be in my top ten. Few special effects, no reoccurring stars, but great writing, acting, mood and music. The video quality is top notch and so in the audio for the black and white era of it’s origination.

If you have not seen these shows, settle down and watch a couple a night. And when traveling to these unfamiliar parts, it is best to bring your family dog. And least that’s the way it happened, once, in the Twilight Zone.

Everything is different today, than it was yesterday. ...Even love can be re-experienced all over again.

Without being reborn again we're all dying slowly but surely, being invaded with all the technologies; good and bad.

Your review of the Lone Ranger was spot on. I have to decide whether it is the worst movie I haven seen in a decade or two decades. By the way, Thew Thief arrived today.

Barry, it wasn't a review (LR); it was just a simple confirmation. ...Who truly wants to review that flick!@!!

* Let me know about 'Thief' with James Caan. ...Remember, it's from 1981 (thirty-three years ago). ... Michael Mann - director
- Me I love it (everything), and Tangerine Dream music score. ...But films are a personal experience, and not every two people love the same woman.
{You know what I mean ...}

-> Amy Adams steals the show. ...And Bale is funny.
...One time viewing, and that's it. If you want the Blu wait for a sale ($5).

I have never seen the Hunger Games and may see it tonight. Not for this movie but people have told me the second movie is better. For the Hunger Games is going to MacDonalds and guessing what's in each package.

Both 'The Hunger Games' flicks suck! ...I got trapped by all the fake publicity.

They are both terrible movies, with plastic all around, and even bad for kids aged between 10 and 16.
I just don't understand this world of ours sometimes. ...There's nothing good to learn from all this "sensation" TV effect; nothing, not even entertainment.

This is what I call kid's exploitation towards the worst direction there is.
I can't believe people making money with this total non-sense!

Every once in a while I want to watch a movie just to see what the fuss is all about. This is one of those movies. So I'm going to watch in the next few days. I also got King of Comedy , The thief and Pasific rim, a movie that I will watch with my brother.

Check out "rush" directed by Ron Howard. I wanted to watch several times... finally did, with wifey, we both really enjoyed it.

'Rush' I liked. ...Good story, good camera work, good sound. ...On Blu-ray, nothing else.

* Barry, let us know your view on 'The Hunger Games - Catching Fire'; to see if somehow it coincides with mine.

__________

There are some movies when our first impression is not so great, but after re-watching them we grow more fond of them.
For me 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' - 3D is one of them; but particularly in 3D. ...An adventurous ride.
The first viewing (in 2D) wasn't in the same league as LOTR.

And 'Rango' is a tour-de-force, after careful viewing, in my humble opinion.

Hilarious, outrageous. ...I even saw the real-life guy interviewed on CNN not that long ago. ...Poor guy, he's suing Paramount studios for wrongful depiction in the film; $25 millions! I hope he wins; he loves money so much. ...And his girlfriend (wife?) left him, so he is now sad and depressive. ...That's why $25 millions should wipe out his tears, and fix his broken heart. ...He deserves it (all the money).
...Seems like a very normal average folk to me. ;)

Watch this flick and let me know if like me you think he's a total jerk or not; a guy from Wall Street who rip people off to enrich himself. ...Not the first, not the only but only one among too many.

Emergency!...yes, that one. Factoid: If it weren't for the creation of that show, Paramedics and EMTs wold either not exist or would have been delayed for years. I told you I was old school.
