What are you watching?

Barry, nowadays we live so much in the present moment that we are all much closer to the president than we used to.

Hollywood, guns and oil are big businesses, and the Internet, cell phones with cameras, youtube, twitter, etc. give us instant access to what's going on outside our own surrounding boundaries of our own homes and gardens.

There is so much happening that most of us don't have the time to post what they watched! :D ...We just keep watching!

But me I do! :)

I love black & white pictures (they are my favorites), and I love black & white films. :)

I am very disturbed after reading this article in Forbes about the new Star Trek Disc.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' Blu-Ray Punishes The Fans - Forbes

“if you want the “complete” American Star Trek Into Darkness blu-ray, you have to buy it twice.

“buy Disney’s The Avengers at Target instead of Best Buy or Amazon in order to get a 90-minute documentary that isn’t available anywhere else…. The disc set contains the feature on a separate disc, with the 42 minutes of bonus features from the normal release, as well as thirty minutes of additional featurettes, along with the domestic trailer campaign, which is a nice touch.

“It’s annoying, as when Paramount put most the deleted scenes ofMission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol in the Best Buy bonus disc, ”

There actually is a commentary track for Star Trek Into Darkness - a pretty darn good one no less. But it is only available as an iTunes download. The good news is that the retail version comes with the iTunes download, meaning you don’t have to buy the film a third time to get that commentary track. The bad news is that it’s once again a major bonus feature that isn’t on the disc or even on a bonus disc.

Paramount = Bad on this one!

* It is amazing all the dirty deals between studios and some store executives, and even directors (FOX & James Cameron's 'Avatar''s exclusivity with Panasonic).
- Paramount's 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol', and Best Buy exclusivity. ...Bonus Disc features.
- Paramount's 'Transformers' - IMAX and Walmart exclusivity. ...The only way to get the 'Big Screen' edition
- Disney's 'The Great and Powerful Oz', separate 2D and 3D editions with the 3D one without the special features.

* And there are another dozen or more titles like that where you have to purchase the same title twice, or even trice to get the full picture!
The studios are having fun with our money. And the retailers are jumping in for the ride. Everybody is fighting for our money, and they just don't care about anything else.

Every studio (Hollywood) is guilty more or less of dirty tactics: FOX, Paramount, Disney, Universal, Warner Bros, Columbia, LionsGate, Alliance, ...

* When you watch a film, realize that in the future you'll buy it again! ...In 4K, in 8K, in 16K, in 3D, in 4D, in 8D, and so on.
And I don't even mention the newer/more-up-to-date special features that you'll have to buy separately on another disc!

That's life, for us consumers, and for the world's executives fighting for our dollars. ...That is the reality, exceptional or not as we are.
And equality (all people are equal) is just that; as long as you stay away from people who consider gay people as inferior! ...Not allowed to participate at the Olympics!
But even those people who believe and praise and talk about equality are just charlatans. ...Fake peacemaker!
...Like a very bad movie. ...But the difference is that that the movie is real!

* That was a re-watch of course.

I can't do pictures from my iPad . I saw the first three x-men movies. What was interesting is that each one had a better soundtrack, going from DD 5.1 to Dts to lossless Dts. It was a lot of fun.

i also saw the yanks lose three in a row to Boston and dropping out of the playoffs.

The wife finally gave the green light. The basement is mine for the new home Theater. I have been auditioning speakers for the new room. Could you suggest some good test disc. So far I have been doing this via music disc only. Time to branch out.
At high school (college) I was a film projectionist. And I also took Art & Cinema History.

Plus, for many years, every Tuesday, I went to old Cinema theaters for classic (obscure) films (always two of them; one after the other).
...Not those type of Cineplex theaters, but the ones that were very old buildings (beautiful inside decors), and with a very special type of clientele (sophisticated cinema lovers).
Cinema is a big part of me; I learned about it, I worked in Theaters and projection boots (many jobs), I acted in Theaters, and I watched all films with a deep passion; I even made one film myself when I was sixteen (16mm).
I also took Photography, and I've been told that I got the "eye".

It feels sometimes lonely here but I don't mind at all.
And Blu-ray forum is mostly kids with Batman, Superman, Ironman, Transformers, and King Kong. :)

* Here's what I can do more for you guys here (the movie lovers); tell me which genre you like (romance, sci-fi, western, true stories, porns ;), mayhem (guns and blood and guts spilled all over), apocalypse, war, action, horror, comedy, etc.), and I'll recommend one or few especially for you; how's that! :)

--- * Meh.

I watched it again! ...But this time the 2D extended version; better.
...Not because it adds eight more minutes, but because the picture quality is improved.
This is a case where 3D subtracts (reduction) instead of adding dimensionality.
...Way too much too fast camera works from several scenes (headache inducing).

Audio is great, I think.

If you like your zombies extremely fast, lots of guns shooting, bloody violence, horrific and apocalyptic end of the world, science fiction which is quite reminiscent of true reality (in many parts of this world we live in), viruses that propagate in twelve seconds flat, and all that artificial (CGI) jazz; then you might have a nice plate served on your menu table. :D

On Blu-ray, on DVD, on Laser Disc, on VHS tape, or on Beta tape? ;)

A test disc like for picture and sound calibration?

Or a test disc for fantastic picture and audio quality?

2D or/and 3D?

Movie content, like art value? ...Genre: Fun, Sad, Between, Peaceful, Violent, Realistic, Futuristic, Animation, Romantic, Sensual & Sexy, ...?

On Blu-ray (in no special order):
1. 'Baraka'
2. 'Samsara'
3. 'Pina' 3D & 2D
4. 'The Art of Flight'
5. 'Ratatouille'
6. 'Coraline' 3D & 2D
7. 'Tron Legacy' 3D & 2D
8. 'UP' 3D & 2D
9. 'The Incredibles'
10. 'Avatar' 3D & 2D

Test Disc? ...Like 'WOW' from Disney? ...Test Disc for calibrating Picture and Audio. ...Manually, with directives.

*** Those quick ten BD titles above are for both Picture & Sound quality. ...And also for the emotional/valuable content (beneficially spirited/satisfying), except for the last one (#10) and #7. ...But in picture and sound they are top guns, like all ten of them.

Great list, Bob!

What do you think of the Avengers on Blu Ray?
