Tariff implications.........

Thank you for saying you don't understand California condition. I am constantly amazed by how many people love to spout off about California without having even a small clue about California. California is the 4th largest economy in the world, and outpaced the US as a whole by a large margin. California could easily survive on their own and they actually pay more to central/mid-west states than any other state. They are the single biggest giving state in the country versus those that actually take from the federal budget (the central/mid-west states). They are also the number one producer of food in the country. Their population is larger than the entire swath of central states combined. It would be nice if people have a small clue about that of which they speak.
I'm trying to stay nonpartisan in this tread. I was a bleeding-heart lib through my 20s, sometime in my 30s when i quit pot and blaming others for my failures I finally made traction in my career. I discovered the libertarian party and haven't looked back. That said, you can polish any turd into a diamond but it doesn't change the fact California's debt currently stands at $1.4 trillion dollars and accelerating. Unfunded pension liabilities is a staggering $1.3 trillion and the annual budget deficit is >$20 billion! This isn't a joke, the super majority of Dems in both houses have engendered a cesspool of abuse and corruption the likes that have never been seen in this State. Not all has been grim, a few positives living here for 60-yrs: the air/water quality and preservation of Cali's natural environment has improved substantially in my lifetime esp. living in the L.A. basin. That and the passage of Prop 13 in the '70s insured the fair transfer of generational wealth regarding real estate. Beyond that, it's been a struggle.

WOW. This thread has been enlightening. Lots of passion from lots of view points.
Me, recently turning 70 and having lived in the Metro New York area my whole life…

Don’t think tariffs will replace income tax on anything much less begin to pay down 30+ trillion dollars in US debt. Just as DOGE didn’t cut two trillion from the Federal budget. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

And, anyone willing to hang their hat on what’s published in the New York Post might well be interested in trying their hand at a game of Three Card Monty. That said I agree with Tom (AKA treitz3)!

Basking in the sounds of Miles via McIntosh, hand made here, “Upstate.”

You are 100% correct. I have been listening to music a whole lot more and trying to not check in on this thread. I do not understand the certain states view points of other states. It is a bunch of non-sense. We are all Americans after all. This comes from a person who has lived for long periods all across this country.

Anyway, love my McIntosh hand made mostly in my home town of Binghamton. Obviously there are parts that cannot be made and/or obtained in the US... no company can make their own small parts (transistors, etc.). McIntosh does actually manufacture their own transformers though, among many other components. I would venture a guess that they are one of the larger percentage of internal parts and components actually built here in the US then of most American companies.

Frankly, it is none of your business.

But so you know and to avoid snarky reply, our son lives in Wichita, and for our finances. We were able to buy our new house outright in Kansas, we both wanted the four seasons that we both grew up in (me Binghamton, her NC). We loved almost everything about were we lived in California, but because we both came from working class parents and worked very hard and built ourselves a good living (me a Software Engineer her a Hospice Nurse). We were not born with a silver spoon (unlike many in this hobby), and we wanted to be able to afford to retire on our savings.

translation...............that's why you got out of Kalifornia ;) along with the 'family thing', I get it Randy, nothing wrong with that. (y)

Wait until CA passes their exit tax for the wealthy. That will be fun. It's like a play on Hotel California. They will tax your earnings for 10 years after you leave the state.

The fact you live in Metro NY, mocked the NY Post as a whole rather than seeing who actually WROTE the piece (not a NY Post reporter but an expert on China), that you are against looking for fraud and waste, and you think your Bose-in-tosh is all that says it all.

Let me guess, you're one of the 14 people who still gets their New York Times delivered to your door.

Funny how The NY Times left out in their reporting the other day the guy who sexually assaulted a dead man on a NYC subway was an illegal who'd been deported previously but kept walking across the previous open border we had. And when the news broke he was an illegal The NY Times stopped reporting on the topic all together.

But yeah, let's cast stones at the NY Post. I like to read a variety of sources - up to 20 per day to get differing viewpoints. Clearly that idea of differing view points revolts you. :)

Oh, and I bet you think the hundreds of percent violent crime increase in NYC is all "smoke and mirrors" also. Thankfully it's posts like your that make us thankful people have finally woken up to the insanity from the sanctimonious left.

Hi Mike-

Yes, you surmise correctly! We have been Times subscribers for decades, seven days per week. Although, dropped at the bottom of our 200 foot driveway rather then the front door. I also receive links to The Post from a friend on various topics (many political) daily.

When moving to New York State from New Jersey 36 years ago, I decided to register independent. Not much of a move, just one border town to another in fact we still are only 100 yards from NJ. Anyway, prior to I was in fact a registered Republican, member of the RNC. Spent countless evening hours working the phones on the 1980 Reagan campaign. Marginal federal bracket creep, inflation and more importantly the hostage situation and steal of Afghanistan by Russia were the motivators. Also worked for other GOP candidates over the next few years. I strongly believe in fiscal responsibility and law and order. To clarify, my reference to “smoke and mirrors” was (IMO) the apparent reality of the effectiveness of tariffs and DOGE nothing else.

Getting back to the sounds, I have very much enjoyed your reviews. The videos are well put together; visually, audibly and very comprehendible. I especially found the ones on Ethernet (switching/cabling/powering etc) and Furutech 4.1 helpful. The Ethernet got me started on a whole new delivery system and the 4.1 power cables really leveled out and punched up the sound of my McIntosh (now known as “Bose-in-tosh”) 3500’s. Bose-in-tosh, cleaver! I like it!!

Looking forward to your next reviews.

Happy Sunday and Best Regards,

John

Sorry John - your posts betrays the truth regardless of how you are trying to self-identify.

But what do I know, I read the NY Post as one of the many sources of info daily (along with The NY Times, LA times, Washing Post, and so on), so I guess I should try my hand at three hand monty as you say since the NYP isn't on the approved new list of the radical left.

Your post followed several of the favored tactics of the Left from Rules for Radicals including summarily dismissing a piece and personally attacking the people who read it since it doesn't fit your false narrative.

Just be honest about it rather than trying to attack a news outlet as a whole (and its readers) that you don't like because they report what your NYT's won't (let's see, Biden Laptop, then claiming the laptop was "Russian propaganda" even through the FBI admitted it was real 3 year ago, covering for the Biden mental decline, ignoring massive violent crime waves in NYC due to the Dem's "release all criminals" religion, Russia dossier hoax, ignoring the illegal immigration invasion of the border, lying about about Biden's "transitory" inflation, i's anti-Jewish and pro Hamas stance and so on and so forth).

You can self-identify any way you'd like to feel better, but to play the "I'm an independent" schtick is so 2010.

Hey Mike-

Please do not be sorry. We all have our opinions. All part of a vibrant democracy. I was not looking to belittle anyone, just tossing in my “two cents.” That said, I guess my sentence referencing The Post could have been worded a bit differently to reduce the likelihood of those with different beliefs feeling offended. I’ll end it here.

Cassie and I had a great dinner of sautéed fresh vegetables on noodles washed down with some mellow Pinot Noir. We have begun to plant the garden and soon will be picking to eat. I love spring and summer!

As for now, chilling to a little Carlos Santana on my Bose-In-Tosh with Legacy speakers and homemade cables.

Enjoy the Coming Week.

Best Regards,

John

I know, not your words.... but, I take great offense at anyone calling McIntosh Bose-In-Tosh.

How many times have companies ownership changed without really changing the product, mostly for improvements and at times in marketing, etc., McIntosh included.... Bose included, etc., etc. There are very few long standing companies that have not been purchased by others, especially when the founders have passed. Martin guitars is one of the only that I am aware of that the founding family is still running the show, so to speak (at over 190 years and going strong).

Bose has very clearly stated that they, like previous owners, are not planning on changing manufacturing, etc., of McIntosh.

Typical non-sense, and it is completely uncalled for.

John, I know you did not come up with this idiotic name, it just happened to appear in your post (as reference to the others) and it was easiest to reply to yours :).

Fair enough and accepted. Thank you.

I spent 5 hours tube rolling this weekend and had a tube blow up. Enjoy listening to music.

California 14,485 structures destroyed in the fires. To date 4 building permits issued. How's that for efficiency.
it use to be such a great state but they have all but ruined it IMO, its comical that so many say they can run on there own and need no one etc but they can't even be prepared for there biggest threat, fire and lets not forget the homeless

And "coincidentally," those 4 permits were for total electric homes.

30% of the biannual CA fires are set by the homeless.
