First it was you can steal any merchandise you want from any store you want as long as the value of the goods was under $1,000. Now you can commit welfare fraud of $25k?

I know the list is long, but is there a worse Governor in the United States than Newsom?? And he is going to run for Pesident and try to turn the rest of the country into California.

It's as nutty as it sounds:

"This bill would delete the provision that establishes criminal penalties for an attempt to commit welfare fraud. The bill would delete criminal penalties for welfare fraud when the total amount of aid obtained or retained is above or below $950, and instead make welfare fraud when aid was obtained or retained in the total amount of $25,000 or more punishable by specified imprisonment in a county jail, by a fine, or by imprisonment and fine."

That gives all the fraudsters the leeway to claim they didn't mean to defraud CA.

Where is the $27B that was supposed to build houses for the homeless? Newsom's answer is always the same-he has no idea where the money went and is clueless as to how find out which tells you everything.

The issue isn't mine- you simply went off half cocked. No worries. Just read the whole thing.

This is a way made-up stories can occur- you can read something that sounds bad, and if you don't read the whole thing you can come away with the wrong impression. It seems in your case (and this is made up on my part) that you want to believe bad things about California. So reading part of something that looks bad fits that world-view. Its easy to do; we humans do it all that time and I'm no exception.

Or the $0.60/gal gas tax that makes the State $8 billion/yr. It's supposed to go toward fixing our roads. they've never been worse! The roads resemble a 3rd world country in many parts of Cali. Since Sacramento started pushing EVs they're not collecting enough 'gas tax' so now they're pushing to pass an add'l use tax based on mileage...it never ends.

Just 60 cent / gallon tax? What a bargain! I have to pay about 7.5 euro / gallon. Think 80-90% is tax and the crumbs are for the oil company and the petrol station.

Be happy that all your taxes are low.

They know where it went - they paid all that money to give cash debit cards, free medical, free housing, free legal, and free tuition to all the criminal illegal gang members while screwing tax paying US citizens.

And no doubt the are behaving like what DOGE uncovered about Stacey Abrams and that corruption where they gave 2 BILLION dollars to her for her organization that had reported $100 in income the year before.

Ever wonder how AOC went from being a dumb bar tender to being a dumb congresswomen (flying around on first class flights fighting the "evil rich people") worth millions in only a couple of years? (we won't even talk about how proud she was of killing all those jobs that were set to move into her district from Amazon she so proudly killed) It's the same at the state level - check Nancy Pelosi's pockets and her net worth. Oh, and check Greasy Gavin's Swiss bank accounts as well.

But the Dems response is ALWAYS the same - "the issue is you aren't paying enough taxes and more money is the solution". It's never about their rampant corruption, fraud and illegal activities.

You've got to be pretty dense to believe that the answer is taxing people more with all that's been uncovered in the last few months about fraud and waste.

Something like 70% of L.A. thought Mayor Bass (who was partying in Africa while her city burned, andcut funding to the fire department by $23 million) handled the fire well. They just aren't smart enough to learn so they keep paying the price over, and over, and over. I think it's a chemical imbalance that prevents them from understanding cause and effect - "let's let all the evil raping murdering criminals out onto the streets on NY with zero bail. No worries! All will be fine!"

Too many people who choose to stay in CA keep voting for the same nonsense so they get what they vote for. They tried a recall on Newsom, but there weren't enough votes.

Put another way, it would be like you paying an additional 7-10 euro each time you fill your tank when every other province in your country doesn't...with the promise of better roads which never happens. Isn't the Netherlands a HUGE natural gas producer with a petroleum refining industry thats the envy of the EU? with a population of just 18 mil, your energy costs and petrol should be nearly free! lol
