Why did it take me soooooo long to realize what I knew deep down? Stick a fork in me. My CJ GAT/ART mono combo complements the TAD CR-1's so well that it's truly amazing. Any treble issues that I've complained about are GONE! The TADs truly disappear. Damn, if I had the room, the Reference Ones would be on the menu. Deep, layered and wide CJ sound stage coupled with precise vocals and instrument placement is incredible. I am a very tired and happy man.

Why is that Joe; because a keeper is roughly for three to four months or so? ;)
{I'm still listening from the same speakers; from 1987-88.}

The music though; that is constantly evolving. :)

P.S. Those pictures just above; I felt something different this time (for the better); just a hunch Joe.

Ha!

Too funny Bob. I've had the TADs for over 18 months, how's that? :)

I was referring to CR.

* I only mentioned my speakers because they are the only component that I'm still using today and for over twenty-five years!
I know I know I need to go out more often. :D ...Wanna go fishing with me; in the Pacific ocean? :)

Sure would.

Big news and great photos, Joe! Enjoy! Personally, having heard Ref Ones...not your CR-1s...with an all TAD system...I would also probably go with your setup as a personal preference (CJ - TAD). Sounds like an incredible match. BTW, are you using an Auralex isolation platform under your GAT? Looks like one from the photo.

Lloyd,

Great eyes. Until I get something proper, it will do. I love this combo. I can only imagine the Ref Ones with my gear. My CR-1's sound great.

You're having way too much fun with the new setup Joe! :D

Now Joe....who told you to get an all tube setup to tame the TAD tweeter more than a year ago? Hmmm..... :D

Glad you have found audio nirvana with the TAD's. They are finally playing at the level you always knew they could!

Tubes rule!

Mike
P.S. get that vinyl rig going and you will really be in heaven.

Joe, I'm glad you held on to the TAD's until you figured them out. I just knew that it would work out.

And not to sound redundant but plug in that steelhead and that classic 3 and you'll never leave that room again. Well just to go record shopping!

Ray,

I would never steer you wrong. You are in for a treat like no other my friend. Be prepared to be blown away with the GAT/ART combo. It is outstanding in every sense of the word. OMG! I am getting no sleep and I'm dying at work.

Was that Mark who told me? Ha! I should have tried the MC2301's for fun like you wanted me to. I think that would have pulled me from the edge. I guess I'm a tube guy at heart.

Mark, Mark, Mark. Where do I begin. You are the smart silent one of the bunch. Thank you.

Patience is a bitch sometimes. Congrats. Just curious if have have tried the Gat with any of your ss amps? Does the magic disappear? How tight is the bass with the art?
NIck

Hi Nick,

In the past when I had my first GAT, I did try it on everything. It was good on the Burmester 911's but there was something about the Burmester I ended up not enjoying. The GAT on my Dartzeel is outstanding and something that ALWAYS stuck in my head. The sound of the GAT was something I kept searching for in every other preamp that I've owned. The GAT sound comes through everything, especially the Dartzeel. It only has 2 tubes and is RCA only, no balanced in/out. The synergy with the ART monos is through the roof. I feel the bass is very tight on the ART amps. Certainly tight enough for me. Not as tight as a Burmester and very close to the Dartzeel bass which is articulate and defined. The one thing that strikes me is the rock solid vocal and instrument placement. The GAT/ART has an amazingly big and wide sound stage with the most depth of any gear I've owned.
