StillPoint Ultra 5's

You guys are bad influence :exciting: I've got mono blocks - pre-amp that's a two pce - phono and more. Holly crap that ads up to some pretty serious coin :disbelief:

Ha! Yup! Get in line. For me I just put sorbothane isolation under my laptop, I do digital & have no vinyl, my choice. As I'm a huge believer in isolation & have a moderate grip on what material does what I already had sorbothane pucks under the macbookpro & then I went & put some sorbothane pads on top of them that I had lying around from some previous speakers. To say i was absolutely surprised at the difference in sound would be spot on. Then I got to thinking I wonder what Ultra minis would sound like.......bugger...:rofl:
 
I love Ultra 5s...X1s, Velodyne, then Power units (conditioner, Tube PSUs, Amp), then Transport. Each time, the level of effortlessness, detail, timing has improved. I like HRS Nimbus Couplers on top of my Ultra 5s when I am placing them under a component...I also find placing HRS damping plates or Artesania damping plates on top gives me a nice 'isolation sandwich'. YMMV. I have tried to be as scientific as I could, comparing sorbothane, tennis balls, brass weights, iron weights, 4" thick birch ply, slate slabs, granite, HRS, Finite Elemente, Artesania and Ultra 5s.

In the end, my favourite for clean, delineated with good timing/syncopation are Ultra 5s with HRS Nimbus/Couplers on top:Transport, amps, power unit. But for almost that level of detail but with more tonal density, I prefer HRS M3 platform with Nimbus/Couplers (DAC and Preamp). It has taken months to get to this combination for each and every single component...but I am now done and not changing anything. whew!...

Ya you guy's are correct :roflmao:Now I know why wives are a little nervous when they hear my name or I'm coming over because they know there's usually something new that follows :woot:
 
Yesterday I made some demos with Bruce and every house we went the clients did not want us to take out the Stillpoints , that GOOD they are !!!!

What manufactures and models of speakers did you try under, are any of them members here? If not you should introduce them to the site.
