Back to the topic at hand, I'm beginning to interview acoustic consultants, as I've decided while the system can sound pretty good, the room, as is, is never going to let things sound as good as is possible. My wife frowned when I started talking about adding treatments, and said "why don't you just go ahead with the remodel so it will look nice too." Bless her heart.
I expect to remove the two glass doors, possibly angling the wall a little in the corners to incorporate bass traps. The two side walls will be made to be a little more symetrical so I can get gear on one wall, vinyl storage on the other. Instead of built in album drawers I'll have a cabinet made (if we relocate again I want to take it with). I'll move the whole house audio stack to a place upstairs, and ditch the bar, fridge, microwave nonsense. Final design likely to have a home theater look rather than tweaked out audio room, again because we may someday move again. Goal will be 2-channel sound, but I'll wire for 7.1.
If you have done a custom room, I'd be happy to have referrals. And any horror stories too, so I'm not niave.
