We have one on order for demo.

You might be close to the mark. Everest-X = $15,000 MSRP. Everest 8000 = $9,895. Price difference = $5,105.

Thanks. Do you know how this will be facilitated? Via dealers, directly with the factory, something else? Can I assume an RMA will have to first be obtained?

Not sure to be honest.

Here is a post by Scott of Shunyata Research on another audio forum regarding upgrades of Everest to Everest-X specification.

"Yes, there will be an upgrade service available. While all the details and timing are yet to be confirmed, I can say that the cost to upgrade will roughly cost the difference between the MSRP cost of Everest 8000 and Everest-X.

This upgrade path will likely be made available later this year when production capacity allows."

Thanks; will line up for it when the time comes. These devices are superior; I also have a Denali 6000/S v2 for the lesser components and simply moving the ML electrostatics from it to the Everest renders an audible improvement; that's a simple A/B test.

I am a dealer so let me get that out of the way. I have recently received the Everest X and it replaced a Denali and a Typhon 2 driving the front end of my system. The Everest X is a very big step forward in removal of noise. The funny thing is the noise is not something that you are aware of.
What that's crazy? Sometimes in audio you don't know what you don't know. I have written a lot about this journey on the other forum which has become more and more difficult to enjoy.
I also just received an Altaira X which has replaced my dual cores of Altaira and I am also using the new X series grounding cables in two spots.
All of this stuff is very worth checking out

instead of trying to rewrite I will copy an paste what I wrote about the product

IMO this is one of the best audio devices I have ever used . I can't tell anyone that is a silver bullet or a universal fix but in my system I am hearing into the recordings like never before. When I am sitting at my desk outside the room the music truly sounds like there is someone in there playing the piano. My system has incredible bass resolution and integration and that is now at another level.
I believe that this product has done an amazing job of foundation power supply purity . FPSP lol a new term.
I am sure that those who have a really excellent system will go nuts over this because everything will just get clearer, more defined, more transparent, more you are there. I really notice that the system is far better than ever before at low levels, micro dynamics, low level images both front to back and side to side. The spaces between the notes is simply marvelous.
the unit has been on now three days , maybe there is more to come, maybe there isn't but for right now its the best result I have had.
The EV-X replaced a Typhon and a Denali in the front end of my system. My Pre, DAC with 2 PS, Server and PS and Reiki switch with PS are all plugged into the EV-x and it is attached to the Altaira grounding system. So my entire front end of the system. IN the back end of the system I have the amps and subs ground again to the altaira and I used Typhon T-30 with the amps. Subs are directly into the wall with 20 amp power cords.
I have had the Everest X in the system for a week or so and I assume its broken in fully. I spent some time last evening listening to my system and think that I have crossed another divide. I have more information than ever before. Its the most revealing its ever been. This is good but it also means I need to now work lol. If I can hear more I can get more out of the system. I did some adjustments and moved the speakers a little and got even more. I do believe that starting point , the clean slate, is better and therefore I can hear and feel more of what the room, speakers and gear are doing.
I will try going back to my Riviera Amps next week and see what happens there as well. I do love those mono's and it will be interesting to see if the system result changes going back to them after the Everest and a few minor adjustments. The EMM mono's are beasts and really sound great but since I have another pair of mono blocks, another pair that has been my standard for over 2 years I want to hear them in this new environment. I can say that the dynamics both small and large are the best I have ever had in my room and system and the toe tap rating is off the chart.
I am aware that perfect is never possible and a goal that causes insanity so the degrees of difference is the area we play in, this area at this level is a one of preference, one of love vs like, one of joy of listening, one of floating away and getting lost in the music, one of peace at least for the period of time until another lightning bolt hits.
Its those days and nights when I am glued to my chair with a smile and my toe tapping that I seek and I love it when I get the visit from my friend HO LEE FUK!
I have in my place a Gemini 8, Typhon 2 and Denali as well as the new Everest X.
To understand noise its quite enlightening to listen to a system with first nothing, then the Gemini 8, then the Typhon/Denali and finally with the Everest X.
These changes are really easy to hear as it seems that slowly this blanket of noise that is prevalent in and around the music gets pulled back and away from the instruments and reveals more and more of the tone, shape, size and dynamic range of the instrument or vocal and the reveal becomes like someone is going from a very dark space to one that has light. I say light not bright as it is not an accentuation of the signal but rather a clarity that is available along with the space around this clarity when the noise is pulled back.
BTW I am not pulling any amplifiers into any of these since I wanted to keep this all equal.
In my past I have not truly loved amps into power devices ( I do use the Typhon T30 now in my big system with all my amps) so in this session I just made it simple and easy for me to do.

The X is IMO a must for a serious system and you won't get it until you get one. I could not imagine what it would do until it did it.

It is IMO impossible to know how long full break in actually takes. I will say that changing to the Everest X versus the Denali even with the Typhon 2 was easy to hear right out of the box. I do believe that the system continued to show growth from the product for a period of time however after 4-5 days most of what happened. Perhaps you are right with cables which some do take a very long time but IMO most gear after a few days should be able to show its "truth" IMO if it takes hundreds of hours I am non believer and probably would not still be using it.
I am positive if you stuck and Everest X in your system you would hear the difference right away
I just received the Altaira-X new grounding device. It is one piece that has 8 full isolated modules so you can ground everything to one unit. That works for my system in that I have 7 items.
I just hooked it up but the X - cables are somewhere else in the UPS universe and should be delivered later. So I will let the system play as is with the standard cables and then stick the X in later or whenever it shows up. Want an Altaira system? both units I have one I am not using LOL
I probably should start a new thread. I understand that I am one of the few that have received the Altaira X unit and X cables. I installed the unit yesterday with the cables that I was using on the two unit Altaira cores the chassis and signal units. These have all been connected to the Everest X so the whole front end is plugged into the Everest and its all been grounded. I replaced the original hubs with the single chassis X version. With the X you don't need to isolate one type of ground from another each individual connection I am told is a separate module and is completely self contained.
I did this in two stages since UPS managed to deliver the two X series grounding cables today and not with the rest of my orders that arrived yesterday. The "X " version with the original cables after playing for 5-6 hours I sat and gave a brief listen to see what was going on. I could hear immediately that something had changed and in my super quiet 'noiseless" system somehow things got better. There was more space and information at the same time. Well that's good and I went home . So this morning when the X cables came in ( only have two) I called Grant to find out what he suggests as the best place to use them in my system. One from the X to the Everest X and then he said to do the DAC. Bad news for me since my DAC requires two cables . OH well so next choice was my server with its optional power supply so that's where it went. I left the stuff to play for a few hours and just went in the room with a client of mine who showed up and we did some listening.
I know the cables are not burned in. I know from the past that at least 24 hours is required just to get in the ball park but I don't care :)
We sat I played some of my best recordings to see what is happening.
We both had to clean the drool off our chins.
People throw words around like musicality ( my most unfavorite audio term since its a meaningless word which basically is the word everyone uses when they don't know what to say or don't know or whatever its the universal BS term IMO)
The system is just playing music. There is music in my room. There is the illusion that a group and its members are playing.
I started with Pebble Dance- John Surman, went to two incredible guitarists playing Miles Davis 's So What by Sylvain Luc and Birelli Lagrene from Summertime - hell yeah this is killer, Minority from Nenad Vasilic Bass and strings, The Waking by Kurt Elling and we ended with a regular cut that he loves AJA from Steely Dan.
If it is going to get better count me in
What do I think? I think that I was totally unprepared for what I could get from my EMM MTRX monos. I did not think that a 1000 watt SS amp can do this. I didn't know that really quiet was going to be not quiet by a longshot. I did not know that I after all this time could surprise myself LOL

SO its been around 24 hours since I installed the new X cables with the Altaira X.
I wanted to hear what happened since yesterday if anything and its Saturday and I was feeling like some funky Saturday morning Jazz.
Ive been playing one of the great funk /jazz piano players in George Duke and his album called "Face The Music"
the first track is "the Black Messiah ( part two)
first it has never sounded better than this am. You can hear the people cleary moving their drinks and making sounds but that is not the important part. I can play the system louder and it is like its unlimited. The micro and macro dynamics are far better and the there is more there or as they say there is more there there. I am not a wordsmith nor did I sleep in a holiday Inn las t night but I can say this stuff works and it works incredibly well. Did I know I needed it? Did I think there was noise in my already noiseless system? You don't know till you know or you don't know what you don't know.
the foot is tapping and I can't and don't want it to stop

OK I just found out the deal. The X cable is made specifically for Altaira X and its a pure Silver cable . It is the suggest best grounding option for the X series Altaira .
to be clear it is above the Omega X ground cables. They still make Altaira hubs as before this and have different levels of cables for both hubs and the new Altaira X however as I said the cats meow is the X cable on the X Altaira..

I spoke to Grant at Shunyata today and hope his explanation clarifies the differences between Denali X and Everest X

E
verest X, in addition to two more outlets has a more massive "engine", meaning the patented QRBB circuit that lowers current resistance and adds to the dynamics. It also has a Cmode filter at the input, which further quiets noise. Everest-X also has a second HARP module, which breaks up current-mode distortion a bit better than the single Harp module Denali-X.

If the system being used has more components or the distributor has amp current going through it, the Everest-X is the better choice without cost coming into play. Given the difference in cost + the Sig-XC power cord with the Denali-X, it'd be hard to argue with anyone choosing that combination. On paper and in practice the Everest-X has larger performance capability but if cost is factored in and the system isn't going to place a high demand on the unit. Denali-X is more than up to it.

...I just received the Altaira-X new grounding device. . I understand that I am one of the few that have received the Altaira X unit...
What do I think?
What I think is that AU$18,000 RRP for an Altaira-X has priced me out of the market. I'm going to keep my Altaira-SG and buy another one.
