Salon 2's.....Home Again

Mike's not alone with having tubes somewhere in "there". Perhaps a tube preamp for the Hegel?

I know you love the Classe' CP800 but just sayin.....might be worth a little experimentation-venture?

Mike, when I had my Revel's with ARC REF 250's, I shot this video:

Some will likely say this just proves the meters were inaccurate, but let me tell you, the amps weren't breaking a sweat and sounded incredible.

The REF250's took the Revel's to a totally different level and proved just how ballsy these amps are. The synergy was scary good. I also had 2301's on my Salon 2's.

I know Joe had CJ monos on his Revel's and Bruce had Mc 275's on his Revel's.

Congratulations Mark!

You are very brave being loyal to your own taste. I admire you for that. I hope you'll have a lot of fun enjoying your new babies.

Thanks Hans !
Hopefully you can travel to Dallas soon, and hear them for yourself.

Holy crap Mike! Output peaks of 101db while using a watt or so of power! Thanks for sharing.

The synergy was a "holy crap" moment too. I think Joe had a similar experience with his CJ ART monos on the Revels.

I did. I loved my Studio2 and ART monos so much that I think the Salons would be even better.

I am so content ! It's so nice to not think about anything but how GREAT the music sounds :celebrate008_2:

That's terrific Mark. That is one of the things I love most about the Salon 2's, their ability to just disappear and allow you to enjoy the music. They do not bring any undue attention to themselves, no sibilance or boomy bass. Just a clear window to the music.

Best,
Ken

The Mahogany is really beautiful. I have the piano black which is pretty nice too.

Mark-Congrats and let me be the first to say GLWS! :D

It was an amazing combo. Just ask Mark. I could not get to sleep for a week because I wanted to stay up and play music. It filled my room with beautiful music. I think the Salon2 are even better and would be more seamless, full and meaty with sweet vocals. I think the Revels benefit from great tube gear. Tubes bring the music forward into the room with you. I loved it and will eventually add Salon2 or the next generation back to my room. ART monos are 275 wpc with plenty of drive. Your VTL's are awesome and would be just as good. Sweet EL-34's? I loved a pair of MB250's back in the day.

do tell, the ART amps have plenty of drive for the studios? i've been eyeing a pair of Studio 2s to mate up with my 200w tube amps.

I looked close at buying the Salon 2's a couple of years ago. From what I remember current is very important. I think they run 3 to 5 ohms up to about 500hz. I would be careful with tubes that have to high of an output impedance. The ARC 250's have balls, but not all tube amps are created equal with current availability. (That said, I am not familiar with your VTL's or the Studio 2's in this regard.)

Thanks Joe. I actually have two pairs of 225 monos, one takes el34/KT90s the other 6550/KT88s. the Salons might actually have too much bass for my room, ill check them out.
