Ken,
Having been down that road, I think you're making a wise decision. You will no doubt love the D3's,as did I, but if I could have both, that would have been the best of both worlds.
The D3's have something about them that is so intoxicating. At low to moderate volumes, they will be hard to beat. But as a man that loves to crank up the volume and "Rock out" on occasion, I needed to go back to what works the best for me.
The Salon's paired with the Hegel H30 is a fantastic combination, and the tweeter is so great that it doesn't bother my tinnutis.
I still think you will prefer the D3's with your habit of listening at low volumes. But now you can have your cake, and eat it too !
Mike, I'm always willing to try anything.
David wants me to try the Levinson No.52 pre.
He thinks it's one of the best he's ever heard, and he has a full Solution 700 series system.
Can you tell us about the Salon 2's versus the F208's ?Congratulations Mark! I love my Salon 2s. We've gone down such similar paths. As you know, I went from the Studio 2s, to the D3s and now the Salon 2s. I can't imagine a speaker that would beat these in my room.
