Pre-amp/DAC for JOB 225

Bob was talking about the LM line this weekend. Seems like a decent entry point should I give it a try.:exciting:
 
Anybody actually get the info or pull the trigger & purchase the Job Pre2 .. ? it appears to now be for sale on their web site at the .. "HOW TO GET A JOB" .. page ..

Well thank you very much, I just ordered the 225 today but the status of the Pre2 is still listed as 'sold out', as of the date of this posting, upon check-out when attempting to purchase .. I guess it gives me some more time to make a pre amp decision .. sure would like to know what the Pre2 is all about .. Anyone care to comment on how the AVA fet valve CF tube preamp in low gain mode worked out as a partner ..?

I think the new Job preamp should be ready very soon.

What speakers do you have or are planning to use?
 
What is the gain in the "low output" mode. There is nothing on Franks website that mentions it. In my experience it need to be below 8db.
 
I've got several options, JBL S412P or Reimer Teton GS as well as several econowave variations & Altec bassboxes, w/different driver & horn combos ..

There is a low gain button on the front panel above the volume knob .. also see post #21 on page 3 .. maybe we can get mg8 to share his experiences with the AVA unit
 
Getting kinda annoyed of waiting for their release. I might just go with a PS Audio DirectStream straight to the Job 225 if the Pre2 not released by next week.

Hopefully its released!!

Hard to argue with that logic if your going to be all digital on the inputs .. that's a very flexible unit .. let us know if you pull the trigger and please comment on the synergy between the two ..! I still need some analog inputs too :doubtful: Just ran across the SOtM sDP-1000 which supposedly can do DAC & analog preamp duties and is JOB 225 friendly to its high gain!

DirectStream offers the ability to play directly into either your preamplifier or power amplifier through either its balanced or single ended outputs. You can select the optimum gain setting through DirectStream’s setup menu to match your amplifier and loudspeaker’s sensitivity. If you choose to go through a preamplifier, it’s easy to set DirectStream at maximum level (or any level you wish) to match the preamp’s gain. But should you choose to eliminate the extra electronics of the preamplifier, DirectStream is more than capable of driving the power amplifier directly. DirectStream’s unique zero-loss volume control maintains full resolution bit-perfect performance at any volume setting from the lowest to the highest levels.

Got release date for Job Pre2!



Dear Brian,

the release is on Friday 13th June. We will open the possibilty to purchase and pay for the preamp.

Then the shipment will take place the week after between Wednesday and Friday.
