I use Schitt audio Saga passive/active (no gain in either mode), it uses one 6sn7 (or equivalent) dual triode for the no gain "tube buffer" mode. Usually I run it in buffer mode. It also has a switched resistor volume control. The tube mode adds just a touch of weight and drive compared to passive. It's a good single ended input/output preamp and works well with high gain single ended input Job. Schitt calls it a "reference level preamp disguised by its price", hell if I know what the reference is, but at $350 I'm sure not complaining. They match up well to make a nice musical sound, some but not all of the hi fi qualifier boxes get ticked, Yet there is certain rightness to the whole. If you gotta have the full size high end unit with all the trimmings, probably Saga won't do, but I guess you could say the same thing about the Job 225.
