New Magico speakers arriving 04/2015!

Ok, so we have different taste. Interesting, you have DAG amps with Wilsons and you enjoy Magico/Soulution or Magico/Constellation match?
Dont get me wrong, Im familiar with Magico and Soulution and these one of the best gears on the market. But not together in one system. With Magicos I would try some strong but sweet and warm A class amp. For Soulution... hmm... Focal, Wilson, Raidho.
But Like I said, fortunately we all have different taste and ears :)

Another factor complicating this broad statement is the difference between the Soulution 700 sound and the 701/501 sound and the Q's and the S's. I could see someone not tolerating the 700 sound on say the Q5's but the 701's on the Q's or the 501's on either Q's or S's are a good match. You may still not like the whole Magico sound but it ain't the amp pairing. (Please insert IMO throughout the entire post.)

But I like Magico sound and that is the reason why the pair of S5 playing Lester Bowie in my room now :)
And yes, I dont listen to 711 and 701 model but I will in near future, when I make upgrade for Magico S7. if the sound is great then I will write a formal apology :)

I've heard Magico's with a lot of amps, including my own. My favorites were Vitus and Pass. Soulution was also excellent. I never got the Constellation/Magico pairing. It didn't float my boat. VAC was good, but not on the level of Vitus and Pass on the Magico's. But VAC on Focal is SUPERB! My D'Agostino amps were very good as well on Magico. My Mc 601's were not, but on my Wilson's, they won our amp shootout! So, synergy is everything. You just never know.

A little hidden gem with Magico is the Devialet.

Magico M Projects with Vitus class A or Pass class A would be my ultimate Magico setup. I would imagine my Pass XS amps with M Projects would be outstanding.

Where's Michael Kim when we need him!!

+1

Also the Perfect 8 and NOLA while we're at it. :)

I've heard the M Projects with Pass XA.8 amps and XS Pre and they sounded incredible.

Outside of some of the owner systems on the Forums, its an unusual pairing that I haven't seen at Shows , Dealer demos or at Magico.

I think one of the reasons you don't see Pass and Magico together at shows is because there are very few dealerships that carry both brands. I think shows use combinations that usually sound good together and are represented by a dealer network. A lot has to do with relationships. Pass has very few US dealerships.

Here is the latest tweet from Munich from respected fellow member & CEO of AV Showrooms, Peter Breuninger! :audiophile:...

I think Peter is one of the sweetest guys in the business but after he gave the HFT's Product of the Year I was left scratching my head. :disbelief: Say what????

The S7's may sound better than the Q7's sounded at Axpona but I am not sure I would be persuaded by your post.

IMO Reno is killing the brand from a distribution stand point. If Pass wasn't so good the business model might be sinking their ship.

Mark at Reno is a great guy. But yes, the overall situation is VERY complicated. All I can do is the best I can.

Yes Mike he is, but its a tough one for dealers. I hear there are personal motivations involved but I don't get what Nelson is thinking.

It's ok Paul. I've overcome adversity and challenges in my life more times than I can count. If I focus on being the best I can be and representing the amazing Pass brand the best I can, then everything else will fall in line.

Let's also not forget that without the help of a great dealer like Mark in the early days, Pass may not be as popular as they are today.

I think I can provide as excellent customer service as anyone - or better. It's the old: "worry about the things you can control rather than the things you can't."

Great attitude Mike. I just hope the rest of the dealer network can find your courage. I fear that's often not the case.

You rang? :hey:

This thread has gotten pretty hot lately. Don't know where to chime in but I've had little desire to even look at gear since discovering Pass/Magico. I've posted this in my S5 review but the ONLY thing about Pass/Magico that doesn't absolutely blow me away is its dynamic range (speed is excellent, it's the total range I'm talking about...I don't care for Raidho but those things had that little extra that was special). Perhaps the M-Projects or an upcoming Magico speaker(s) with the new tweeter can bridge this gap a bit so long as they don't alter voicing.

Are you selling Pass now Mike? If so, congrats!! You know I'm loving mine.

I sure hope Magico keeps researching/expermenting with different materials and techniques. They certainly don't mind trying things and it would be a shame for them to stop now.

I totally agree. Whether you like Magico or not, their R&D and passion for what they do is second to none.

I agree for brick and mortar stores. But, I'm not sure that the brick and mortar business model works anymore for 2 ch. There just isn't enough of us 2 ch weirdos out there in the USA.

I know a couple ex-pass dealers that unless they discounted heavily they couldn't compete with Reno and the internet dealers. And those two, being both brick and motor stores - it's just not possible to pay their overhead let alone make a profit. So they gave up the brand. Not because it wasn't good, but because the brand store ethics was putting them out of business. Thats not to say that Pass doesn't have ethics - far from it - Pass loves there customers and will go through everything to take care of them. Great company - bad marketing. IMO

Mike, I appreciate your honest and considered view as you've obviously owned a pair of S5's & have had a chance to hear Magico speakers in many different setups. Magico and Vitus (Signature & MP series) have uncanny synergy and sound great together. I haven't had the pleasure of hearing the Pass amps, but going by the reviews & your own comments, feel sure your XS series would also be an excellent match. The look of the XS series amps is growing on me, however I don't have the room or coin for them & my Dealer doesn't carry Pass, so it's a moot point.

I liked the new Soulution amps with Magico which sound very quiet, smooth & sophisticated, though they are certainly more neutral sounding than my Vitus gear which sounds a bit warmer and sweeter. I think I prefer VA dollar for dollar. I could also see the new Accuphase instrumentation type amps sounding good with Magico, along with Myles CJ Art/Gat amps. There are plenty of great combo's really :audiophile:.
