I think the S7 will dwarf the Q3. From the photos, it looks like it may be about the size of the M Project. The tweeters are all about the same height off the ground. The S7 has a mid driver above the tweeter, just like the Q7 and M Project. I think it will be a big speaker and more expensive than the Q3 which only has three 7" woofers. The M has three 10" woofers, and it looks like the S7 will also. I think the S7 will be priced between the Q3 and Q5, perhaps $50-60K.

Peter, I don't think Magico will want to push the price too much into Q price territory, even if this is the new flagship in the S Series. And don't forget the cabinet construction, and it seems bass and midrange drivers look to be current S series stock, so I would think the price won't push much beyond $50k.

Having owned the Alexia's and now the S5s in the same room with the same electronics, I whole heartedly agree with you, Peter.
I finally heard a Q5 at Rhapsody a Music and Cinema the other weekend. While I did not like the Q7 with Spectral electronics at Goodwins, I did like the Q5 with the new Goldmund electronics at Rhapsody's. Distortion was lower and the bass deeper and tighter.
What I like about Magico is that each new speaker really brings audible improvements, while so many others are just giving us 'different' but calling it progress.
Well the S3 is close to the Q1, and the S5 costs more than the Q1. People compare the S5 to the Q3, the latter being more expensive. I think the same will happen between the S7 and the Q5 with the latter being more expensive.
I agree with you that the S7 will be more than $50K. And Magico speakers usually have a price increase shortly after introduction and a few glowing reviews.
The demarcation in the cabinet between the tweeter/midrange and the three woofers is an interesting thing. I looks like a continuous front baffle but perhaps the two sections are enclosed in separate chambers within the cabinet.
Completely agree with your comments. I have heard the Q7 twice at Goodwins with Spectral. I actually preferred the Q3 with Boulder amps in that same room.

Where I come out is I don't think the S7 will be >$20k more than S5 for the base M Cast finish. I generally agree with your other comments.
In my mid sized room (~300 sq ft) I don't think I need a larger speaker than the S5 . When new I thought the bass was articulate, extended, and tonally rich but a little light weighted. Now after ~800 hrs, bass weight is just right. For me, the extra 10" woofer of the "S7" would be less attractive than improvements to the mid and tweeter drivers and configuration.
I was offered a very attractive "upgrade" to the Q3. After repeated auditioning, I am still not decided. I guess I am used to and possibly favour the S5's voicing and attributes, just enough not to be moved.

That i would very highly doubt.I am aware you have a signature. My point was that the discussion had turned to the max watts that the S5 can control/or maintain. The issue was raised that after Bud's comment 1200w seemed rather "reaching" to put it nicely as some things around here can tend to be at times. for an example. Bud supplied the info straight from the horses mouth, a few comments were made & one of them being yours with the "Magico & Vitus" reference yet again, where my reply was that basically Bud knows what he is talking about as he did blow some speakers up along the way & the topic was pertinent to 1200w & said discussion. Please tell me how I have missed the point without trying to use idiocies to make me look better than i am......

I guess with three woofers they addressed Ian's (MadFloyd) bass issues.
If the midrange is the typical Magico 6”, and the tweeter is at ~40", these look like 3 X 10”. Will be closer to an MPro dim. Probably 57" in height. Wow!
