Myles-I don't have a clue how this amp sounds, but the specs are great and it should mate electrically with your system just dandy. It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on these big boys. Once you have been sheep-dipped in tube magic, it's hard to give that up. You just have to appreciate SS for what it brings to the table and the first thing is usually a better bottom end in terms of extension and slam.

Myles-You have been a reviewer for many years and I'm sure you have had tons of different gear come though your rooms over the years. The only predictions I will make for these amps is that they will sound 'fast' based on their slew rate and they will have a good bottom end.

The SNR spec is great and it should be real quiet. I don't find noise to be an issue with tube amps.

Myles, you really have a system i'd love to spend a weekend with house-sitting. My next major purchase will be a top class phono stage & am enjoying reading & seeing what everyone is using. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty much exactly my reasoning. I wanted to do a ss amp for a while with the Magicos but didn't want it to be a another ho-hum amplifier that's been done to death. Recently, an opportunity arose at AVShowrooms.com to listen to the Audia Flight amps from Italy and jumped on it. Heard them at the NY Show on the ultra-efficient Verity Audio speakers and was pretty impressed with the sound. They'll have to come in and set up these 250 lb. behomeths since can't lift heavy weights yet. :(

One note. Though I personally own tubes, have reviewed plenty of solid-state amps over the years including Goldmund, Levinson, Rowland and most recently Cello, and appreciate what they bring to the game.

Myles, extremely interested in what you find here. Was recently asking a few forum members via PM if they had heard Audia Flight as I thought it would make a nice pairing with my S5s as well. The High Fidelity Services/High Water Sound was one of my favorite rooms at the NYAS, and I thought Audia Flight and the TW TT really brought a lot the table.

Which amp are you looking at? The Strumento No. 4 or No. 8? For their size and specs, they also seem reasonably priced.

Myles congrats on the Koetsu
What tracking weight are you using?

With mine I find 1.90 or less great Also minimum anti skate
Also on a Arc phono stage 100 ohm loading
Thanks

Agreed. 1.9 g. in the VPI 3D arm. As far as anti-skate goes, I agree with Harry Weisfeld. With the Doshi, could be either either 75 or 100 ohms; overall, I prefer 75 ohms. I was puzzled by others using much higher loading values of 800-1000 ohms, even with the Doshi. Of course one can say the loading is system or phono cable dependent, but those values did not work in my system at all. Way too thin and bright at the higher loading values.

Thanks Myles
Looking forward to all your reviews

I would guess system synergy. the GAT has a lot of upper frequency extension and air, so higher loading is not required and the lower loading does give a tighter bass imo.
