nice Joe. I drove one with a mild tune (400hp at the crank). its was sneaky fast and will startle more than a few sports car owners in the stoplight wars. it hooks up well because of the AWD and the DSG shifts felt almost as quick as the current PDK equipped P-cars. enjoy it!

Yep, he and my wife walked away but the car had damage beyond what the insurance wanted to pay. Air bags are a blessing. I should add when they are made properly.

Thank God!

Sweet ride!

I have always been a Golf R fan. The ultimate sleeper for me.

Thank you Adam. I've wanted one for a long time.

Wow!!! Beautiful. I really wanted an M2 or M4 but it was just too much money for me. The R is more than I wanted to spend. I am happy for you Keith.

Nice car. Did you get a DSG or traditional manual?

7 speed DSG and it's wonderful. I don't usually hit too much traffic to worry about a manual, but the DSG is sooooo smooth and is faster than the stick.

Fantastic choice. You can't beat the 6 year , 72K mile warranty. I owned one 20 years ago and remember it fondly. The new ones must be spectacular. Best of luck with it Joe.

nice. is this your first m-car? now you gotta join the bmwcca. the L.A. chapter is quite active and their calendar is full of track events.

First M car, not my first sports car (Boxster S back in the day, Audi S5 most recently). I'm not going to track it, but look forward to some spirited driving with local M owners in the Malibu canyons.

If I wasn't relegated to a 2-door car from being in a wheelchair, a hot hatch like Joe's Golf R would be in my drive way. fyi, I prefer the M2 to the M4.

I love DSG/DCT trannies. Much better than the ubiquitous 8sp autos. Had your 7 sp DSG on my S5 for 5 years and outside of requiring scheduled transmission filter replacement (annoying and more expensive), it didn't have nary an issue.

Be sure to pick up an OBDEleven for some tweaks, such as opening windows with remote, etc...

I'm on my 3rd Golf. Started out with a MK5 GTI, MK6 TDI wagon, and now a 4Motion Golf Sportwagen. Would love an R, but not enough room for baby stuff.

Mike, is the OBDEleven the “better” tool to get?
