Ha! I drive about 80 miles a day round trip for work and am having a blast. Such a fun car.

In the late '80s, I used to have an '86 GTI with a modified Calloway (of Corvette fame) Turbo, race-oriented modified suspension, wheels, tires, clutch, etc....

Won a few trophies with that one. Decided to settle down a bit with a SAAB turbo, and always regretted it.

Not that the SAAB was poor or anything, but the GTI was sooo much fun!

I remember the guy who bought my GTI. He did it because I beat his 911 on the track!!!

On the GTI, premium isn’t required, but you get better performance. I run regular in my wife’s and she thinks it’s great. I run premium in mine, and I think it’s great. The R is a notch above though, so it may require premium.
