MIT in the store!

Damn it! I'm not getting any work done today.
Wait a minute, that IS your work! As the saying goes "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." :audiophile:

You're so right Bill. After 25 years of IT Projects, I much prefer this. But the saying "how do you make a small fortune in high end audio? Start with a large fortune!" is sooooo true.

Hiring smart, young go getters to do the IT project work, respond to BS RFP's, RFI's and RFQ's was the best thing I ever did.

You're borrowing from a great mind [emoji3].

Richard Branson was once asked how to become a millionaire. His answer was simple: Be a billionaire and buy an airline.

Mike ,

are you using the interconnects as well ? If so , how do you determine the impedence setting to use ? Trial and error ?

Yes. I told MIT what equipment I would be using.

Uhh...I've been at the store all day listening.

The interconnects have a 3 position switch and the starting point for selection is the line level impedance of the source (sending) unit.

Mike does Magico use MIT wire internally in their speakers?

I just left it at Medium (40-100ohms). The Pass amp is 100ohms. The Vitus is 75ohms.

Mundorff wiring.

Mundorff wiring.
Are you sure Mike? The reason I ask is Myles B Astor commented in his review of the S7's - "All internal wiring used stranded (as opposed to solid-core in the Q-series) wire sourced from Japan that uses two 10 gauge conductors wound in different geometries for (+) and (-).", though Magico may have reverted to Mundorf wiring for the S5 Mk2.

Yes. This came from Magico yesterday.

Ok, thanks for the clarification Mike. I was sure that Magico were using essentially the same internal wire in the S5 Mk2 as the S7. But that only highlights nothing stands still at Magico, and each loudspeaker design essentially starts with a fresh page.

great cables... i'm "still" with my royal double crown siltech loom.... flipping them to anything else will deliver heart failure :(.

Siltech is my go to cable. I hate to admit it, but these MIT's are also superb (says the guy who swore he would never have "cables with boxes")...grumble, grumble. When I read about the technology behind MIT, it makes sense and you can literally hear it. Damn it!

I find most copper cables sonically are different in a "varying shades of grey" sense. Of course some are better than others. I love the liquidity of Shunyata and can't wait to try the new NR series speaker and IC's. Audioquest copper and silver are also superb! You wouldn't believe how beautiful the full AQ loom sounds on the S3 mk2's with Ayre. Ansuz is a real sleeper and terrific with Raidho. Ansuz power cables are superb. I haven't had enough time with Tellirium Q, but first impressions are really good - especially the Ultra Black. I find Siltech's silver/gold composites absolutely splendid and completely different sonically from a typical copper cable. The MIT's with their technology again, totally different. So far, incredible synergy with Magico.

Hi Mike,

I'm not surprised you are loving the MIT cables with Magico. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if MIT becomes your go to cable with Magico. They should sound great together because they are very similar sonically. Both have rock solid imaging, a broad soundstage, a high level of detail and are very neutral in their presentation.

Best,
Ken

I can't wait for the comparison with the Shunyta Sigma loom. But, I've heard a full magico system with Shunyata for power (cables and conditioners) and MIT speaker and interconnects.

It was a great sound for sure.

I also auditioned the $50K MIT loom with the Magico S7 and it was very impressive.

Same here. I was just about ready to upgrade my ICs and speaker cables to the new Sigmas, but spent the money on a two week trip to Peru to cruise the Amazon. Wondering if I made the right decision. :)
