MIT in the store!

Mike, have you decided which MIT cables you plan to order for your home system?

Yes. After talking with Bruce (founder of MIT), I'm going with the Evo series. He said they worked best with low powered SET amps.

But for the store (where I have big powerful amps), it's 2C3D all the way.

Did your conversation with Bruce involve any discussion about the network boxes?
If so did it alleviate any possible remaining reservations related to using cables with boxes?
Obviously you have moved past this after hearing the results, but I am curious as Bruce is certainly a legendary figure in cable design.

Well, as they say, hearing is believing. Yes, I will admit, I was a "no boxes on my cables" guy. I was the biggest skeptic of boxes on cables. But after hearing what these are doing, there is NO going back. This isn't like "oh I hear a little more sweetness on top" or "I hear less grunge in the lower mids" or "bass is tighter", this is "holy sh!t am I hallucinating?" I knew when I took the cables to my clients to try, I knew I wouldn't get them back. You just can't live without them once you've heard them.

I did talk to Bruce to get a better understanding of what is doing what and WHY I'm hearing what I'm hearing. I told him, now I'm very glad they didn't take no for an answer.

I still cannot believe what I'm hearing. Bigger than a component change that's for sure.

Just to be clear, I have only heard them on Magico. Once I get my next set, I will try them on Vivid, KEF, Avantgarde, ELAC, etc. I'm really curious to hear if the impact is as dramatic. Bruce assures me it will be.

Funny I thought the 2CD series simply added that circuit (2CD) over the EVO.

I did too. But all MIT cables have 2C3D technology. As you go up the line, the number of poles increases, as does the size of the components in the boxes - capacitors, etc. FWIW, Bruce seemed most pleased with the Heritage 2C3D & Evo series. It seems like he achieved a goal of bringing a good percentage of the top dog cable sound down to lower price points.

I won't pretend to know everything about what the cables are doing. The MIT website is chalked full of white papers, patent information and more for those more technically inclined. I just want to listen.

FWIW, I asked Bruce what he uses at home, he said the ACC206.

I would offer to loan you mine to try, but, uhmmm...they're gone...gobbled up by an incredible system of Magico S7's and Pass XS300/XSPre/Berk REF2 MQA DAC/Aurender N10.

Will be a month before I get another full set. Going to order EVO series too.

Wow. Nice system. What was the owner using before the MIT?

Acoustic Zen.

I have nothing against Acoustic Zen but, it looks like their cables are very simple but, high quality. Gets the job done etc... Eg..they don't have the technology of an MIT etc... With that system you mentioned the MIT loom had to have taken it to another level. Given some of the positive comments on this thread.

I'll be curious to know myself. Well at least on all Levels of the 2C3D line. I asked MIT but, they didn't give me an answer. They stated they didn't advertise "Poles" in the 2C3D line because customers would get confused when compared with the Oracle line. Funny, MIT claims they are the only cable manufacture that can quantify their line and performance via "Poles of Articulation" but, chose not to market the 2C3D line like that.

It's similar to the ORACLE series, but the ORACLE series still offers a refining quality due to its use of even great and more robust parts.

The 2C3D is definitely a sweet spot, but I'm jonesing for the ACC206.

Mike,

Good to know. I just wish MIT had a PDF with a comparison of all their products. Eg.. a column for articulation poles, JFA, etc..all of their technologies...

I'm curious to see how MIT plays with the other speaker lines you carry besides Magico. I know you mentioned Bruce Brisson stated he felt the the improvement would still be as profound.

Also, does the owner who bought your 2C3D cables have any impressions to share to forum? He has quite an impressive system as you mentioned. Even before he added the MIT.

Thanks

So when can we expect those 206's to show up?

They're back.....

Got my new loom today. Put them in the system. Same incredible impression as last time. Liquid. Big sound. Incredible 3D. It's all there.

Well, it's almost 7:30pm and I'm still at the store. My wife just called to ask where I was.

Uhhh....just one more song....

Going to keep burning these babies in. MIT says 2 weeks.
