No. It needs to be on the network.
Actually, the L1 can be plugged in directly into S1 / A1 etc. via USB and behave as a regular USB HDD, but that's not the best way of using the L1.

I have been trying to copy my music folder from a Synology 1513+ to the L1 with zero success. I've tried both the USB 2 and 3 connections with no luck. Several files will transfer and then the whole process stops after 5 minutes or so.
If available, please try different USB ports on the Synology. Also try a different USB cable for the L1.
Thanks On! How is the Tidal integration coming? Any chance we will be seeing the D1 over here?![]()

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the HDD in the L1? Is it just an easy swap out?
Hi,
L1 vs a NAS Synology /qnap with "standard" Hd or with SSD HD.....the sound is much better with a L1 and "standaard" HD (not SSD = shit sound / test by test!!)
L1 is yes more expensive vs a NAS but sound very different!
L1 +++++
Agreed, L1 is a audiophile grade NAS. sonically better than my synology NAS.
You know I was wondering that, I like my synology but always wondered about the L1. So in what ways is it sonically better ?
Chris, for one thing, blacker backgrounds/lower noise floor. Bass seems tighter as well and there is a greater smoothness on top. Trust me, it's one of those crazy things that has me mumbling "it just shouldn't matter!" But then I remember - everything matters.
SSD dont give you emotion!
Are there any plans to have an SSD option for the L1?
