Lumin L1

I have been trying to copy my music folder from a Synology 1513+ to the L1 with zero success. I've tried both the USB 2 and 3 connections with no luck. Several files will transfer and then the whole process stops after 5 minutes or so.

I also tried to upload the files to my Mac, but I got a huge zip file and do not know how to open it. My bright idea was to upload to the Mac and then tranfser via usb to the L-1.

If a transfer will work, I want to A/B the two and and also use the L-1 to occasionally back up the NAS to.

Any ideas or suggestions?

If available, please try different USB ports on the Synology. Also try a different USB cable for the L1.

I've tried different ports, but I'll give a different cable a go. Thanks!

Thanks On! How is the Tidal integration coming? Any chance we will be seeing the D1 over here? :)

I'm not Li On  but I know that Tidal support is being worked on - and we should see Tidal first before any other new streaming services, if any. I hope the availability of D1 to improve once production ramps up.

A new audio grade usb 2.0 cable did the trick. Thank you.

Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the HDD in the L1? Is it just an easy swap out?

Hi,

L1 vs a NAS Synology /qnap with "standard" Hd or with SSD HD.....the sound is much better with a L1 and "standaard" HD (not SSD = shit sound / test by test!!)

L1 is yes more expensive vs a NAS but sound very different!

L1 +++++

Agreed, L1 is a audiophile grade NAS. sonically better than my synology NAS.

You know I was wondering that, I like my synology but always wondered about the L1. So in what ways is it sonically better ?

Chris, for one thing, blacker backgrounds/lower noise floor. Bass seems tighter as well and there is a greater smoothness on top. Trust me, it's one of those crazy things that has me mumbling "it just shouldn't matter!" But then I remember - everything matters.

Interesting, Thanks Mike.

I have a S1 . NAS Synology 214play.

ok...sound good but with the L1is really another story!!!!

if 2rb are nt enough you can upgrade to 4 Rb (TOSHIBA HARD DISK) not others!!!! try with ssd samsung...SSD dont ginve you emotion!

I go pay 780$ for a L1 2tb......much more vs a NAS but I go use my synology for backup and othersssssssss!!!

SBooster for the L1 is not the way. use the "standard" 12volt connector : silber cables (audioquest Vodka or diamond) -> make you very vara happy

greets

SSD dont give you emotion!

That's interesting, as some people believe SSD is superior for audiophile purpose, yet I've read similar reports as quoted above from different people on different PC-based CAS systems.

at wklie

the SSD with my surpirse are not the right way. Samsung EVO ssd HD dont give a "good" sound. a "normal" HD - specialy Toshiba - give the best sound. WD is too not a good Hd for Lumin.....

HD is a always ne HD!!! -> yes...BUT with the Lumin the L1 is the Top, with Nas use standard HD Toshiba!

You are in Hong kong well? you use the power supply lumin or the kenneth Lau PS?
