Lumin D1 incoming!

Congratulations, I love my S1. I bought it around the end of 2015, and I have not had even the slightest urge to buy anything else, other than music. This feeling of contentment is positively amazing.

I agree Bud. I love my S1 too. It's an amazing streamer/dac and sounds awesome.

Thanks guys.

That damn post office. I had the D1 and PSU shipped to our post office PO Box instead since I wasn't sure if I'd be out when they might be delivered to my home and didn't want to have them either left at the door or leave a sticker telling me I missed the delivery. Instead, I opted to ship to the post office as they offer that service here to accept FedEx and UPS deliveries.

The Lumin and PSU arrived yesterday morning per the UPS tracking email (Mike = super fast ship, thanks Mike!) so I visited the post office 24 hours later (this morning) and they still hadn't sorted their incoming deliveries. The ONE nice gal at the desk told me today when I was picking up a couple other parcels that it can take up to two, maybe three days to process their dock delivery items.

So....still waiting even though they are within arms reach....

The D1 and SBooster PSU are here and installed.

Just got them hooked up and streaming Spotify for now. Working on my burn in collection of various sample rates and file types that I'll put on a usb stick and set to repeat.

Next step is signing up with Tidal to compare with Spotify.

Thanks again Mike, this is a nifty little device!

Thanks Mike!

I gotta say, listening to Spotify with this D1 so far (2 hours in) and while I'm casually listening from afar (well across the room) everything sounds more dynamic compared to the old Squeezebox that the Lumin has displaced. Stravinsky The Rite of Spring is playing at a low volume.....such that the tiny nuances and quiet parts have me wondering if the stream is still flowing (from across the room I hear nothing in the quietest passages) then all of a sudden some thunder is presented and even at the low volume it's playing, it's room filling!

Very cool.

Congrats Mike!

One trick/thing that I've found it that if you set the Lumin to upsample at whatever you want up to DSD, you can AirPlay to it from a Macintosh computer or iPad and it will play at that resolution. For more vocal music, I love the upsampling. For regular stuff, upsampling off sounds better.

Thanks Joe, I haven't played much with upsampling yet but I will.

Question using the Lumin app and Tidal:

How do you play an entire album after searching and finding it on Tidal? Once I tap the first song on a given album it will play that song then stop. I'm sure I'm just overlooking something simple but it's a bit frustrating just like any learning curve I suppose.

when you click on one song, look at the bottom of the list/box where the songs are located and you see a box with a check mark in the middle. Click that and all the songs will highlight. Then click the box with the pointed arrow above or below the box to insert them into your play list.

That's an older version of the que, make sure you've updated your app and it will look a little different.

I'm not getting it done Joe. In the list that is produced after selecting an album if I click on the first song there is no "check box" at the bottom. If I click and hold on the first song (or any song on the album) the following is produced:

What do these four highlighted icons indicate?

Maybe we can get Mike to make a little video. The pointed arrow is where your selection(s) are inserted into the playlist at the left.

Do you have to create a playlist for everything? I don't have any built that I'm aware though I think every song I click on has been added to some kind of list....

In other words, it's not as simple as clicking on an album found in tidal and one-clicking to play the entire album?

If you have Tidal, you can click on the album and add the entire thing to your playlist or if you have your own playlists setup already, you can point to them and add the playlist.

I mostly make my playlists on the fly but have some pre-made for Tidal

That makes perfect sense. However, I'm not able to click on the album and get any more than one song to play at a time. First song or eighth song, each just plays and then ends. Hmmm.

Mike - are you using the iPad or iPhone app?

Alternatively, tap and Hold the album art, then tap the Play Now button (second from the left) in the pop up.
