Lampizator Golden Gate

Blimey. A massive influx of golden gates. Looking forward to impressions. Hopefully mine will be here next week - please :woot:! My Monster Krell 750 monoblocks are due back here next week after a full rebuild so I should be up and running in gas soon...

My GG arrived Wednesday. Will hook it up tonight. I think I will use el cheapo tubes for the first 10 hours or so, then on to WE 274B/300B or 101Ds. Fun stuff.

Congratulations!

I was told the GG takes SEVERAL hundred hours to break in, 400-500 possibly so be prepared. Most of the break in should be done by 200 hours or so.

Congrats to you too Bill. Awesome! Looks like you'll be having fun.

First thing that I noticed was increased resolution and clarity. My Big 7 was no slouch so I am excited to hear what break in does. Separation seems increased as well. Wow! Another home run.

Congrats Adam. I should be getting mine today. Anyone want me to do a SE GG vs Balanced GG before I ship off the SE GG?

Oh, I have 4 NOS WE300b's sitting and waiting for the new Balanced GG. [emoji41]

Yes, please!

Absolutely, Mike. I would love to read a comparison of the SE vs. Balanced GG. As I have mentioned before, my Soulution system is unbalanced from source to preamp but balanced from preamp to amps per Cyril Hammer. However, when I asked if I should use my Esoteric K-01's balanced outputs or SE outputs to my 520 preamp, he said I should use the balanced outputs because they most likely sound better than the SE outputs. So just when I thought I had this figured out (SE GG was the plan), the balanced GG comes back into the mix. I may not get all the benefits of a fully balanced system but if the balanced GG is a superior sounding circuit to the SE on its own, there may still be an advantage to going balanced.

Will you connect both the SE and balanced GG to the 211 mono amps for your comparison or try something different?

Thanks,
Ken

Wow, 3-4 GGs to the Shark community, nice! Eagerly await listening impressions. Mucho congrats, guys!

Hi All,

Do you think the Lampi GG (Balanced or SE) will be at the NY Audio Show in November? This might be my best chance to hear one. Since my system is unbalanced from source to preamp and balanced from preamp to amps, I'm definitely leaning towards the SE and would spend the difference on some high-end tubes. However, I would love to give the balanced GG a listen to see what all the hubbub is about. If there are some advantages to the GG balanced over SE beyond normal balanced vs. SE differences, I would have to consider it.

Ken

You will end up not liking it if you hear it at a show
