Kraemer Designs D~400 Hypex NC400 Mono Amp Build

Matt.
Awesome work, great design and CNC.
Thank you for posting.

Interior looks great and well thought out. Like how the power supply is in its own chamber vented and isolated from the amp module, Channels for the wire groups too!. Anodizing-what colors are available...?

I finished the other 6 cases today and bolted the PSU and AMP board into the case to make sure it worked, it did!!! It worked just as i planned it.

Anyone like chips lol

I installed the boards.

I bolt thru the AMP board to secure it to the case, thermal paste will go between the AMP board heatsink and the case.

I machined in one standoff for the PSU board, this is a conductive standoff to provide a ground link to the chassis. Three white delrin standoffs are bolted into the case to provide a non conductive surface.

All done with this operation. I just have to cut a little more out from the XLR hole, then i'll assemble a pair :)

Matt

Matt, I grew up in Brooklyn Park, not far from you. Back in the early 70's. For people that don't know, Minnesota is a hotbed for audio products, and audiophiles !!:audiophile:

Awesome, Matt ! I come up every year to see family, maybe I'll call when I get up there this summer.

Matt
Excellent. I have followed your work at the lounge and now you're here:woot::woot:

Keep up the good work:D

Yeah, me too I've been following Matt at the Lounge. ...And other people have been following me as well at the Lounge lol.
The Lounge, what a funny place with few funny members and mods and underground action.

Dan's looking for a prankster, Hemster is big into his own personal postcount (post padding), lol.
JamRock's gone. LOTR's gone. Marcus's gone. Tons of threads are gone (Laurence). Another mod is a bum (Allen asked many members money for his kid). Lol, exactly, what a funny place of fanboys with very restricted vision. ...Last place on Earth to grow up properly.

Amps with issues (XPA-1L), CD players (CD-R2; Neekos and others) on fire, XMC-1 still invisible after five years! Man, you gotta be real stubborn to wait and still waiting after five years! Some people truly need to get a life! Lol

...And so much more bull that you need a book just for the introduction.

Matt, sometimes I just wonder. ...But I'm real glad to see you here.

Today I finally finished all the cases. The XLR connector hole was a little tight, so i opened it up a bit. The Cardas XLR drops in smooth :)

I will be assembling my pair tonight. Hope to post more pictures soon.

The lady was watching a movie upstairs. It was called "The Last Song" . Not the best movie, more of a chick flick but it has good sound.

I switched out amps with the D~400's and prayed they did not blow up. A few seconds after i powered them on, i heard a click and the sound came after.

First of all, absolutely no noise, like none. I usually hear a little with all amps but can't hear any with these.

I've only heard them for about an hour now but the sound is very different. Can't make a conclusion yet as i need to spin some records and listen to some digital. I'll run it for long period of time to check temps.

I'll post pictures tomorrow of them in my system.

It's amazing to watch these go from raw stock to beautiful amps. Thanks!
