It's the one audio purchase I've never considered swapping out. The K-01 is amazing and I hear the new K-01X is even a little bit better. Add the G-01 clock and you're on top of the mountain.

You're killing me! That's the exact combo I was looking at this morning. K-01x with G-01x. How much is the G-01x and is it REALLY worth it? I heard the clock in the K-01x is better. No?

The G-01 clock is far more accurate than the K-01 or K-01X clock. The K-01 or K-01X clock is accurate to 0.5 ppm (parts per million) and G-01 clock is accurate to 0.05 ppb (parts per billion), which equates to ten thousand times more accurate. Those who own both the K-01 and G-01 have told me the difference in sound quality when adding the G-01 clock to the K-01 is significant. The G-01 retails for approximately $23,000. The G-02 clock is accurate to 0.01 ppm (parts per million), which is 50 times more accurate than the K-01 or K-01X, and costs approximately $6,000. Adding the G-02 might yield some sonic improvement, but the improvement is marginal compared to adding the G-01.

Believe me, if I had the extra dough, I would slide a G-01 in right next to my K-01. But my K-01 already sounds so awesome that it helps me to resist the temptation. :whew:

No, I've never "heard" the "EAR" (LOL). The K-01 and K-03 are known for being terrific CD and SACD players but they are just as great for stand-alone DAC use. I probably play 2/3 of my music through the DAC playing high res. files or streaming music. With the WW Platinum USB cable, you can pretty much reach Nirvana. The G-01 clock is the icing on the cake.
